Diagnostics Code J - Oil pressure sensor input open circuit

Managed an 800 mile round trip in the Tuscan over the weekend, despite my offices best attempts to scare me with a "London to Cornwall TVR breakdown sweepstake - at how many miles will it breakdown!". The car performed admirably with no issues whatsoever... except.... on the last leg,......I had the "J - Oil pressure sensor input open circuit" flash up a couple of times under deceleration. I cant seem to find any reference to what I should look for here to fix this, unless this is one of those "pod" moments. It continued the last 50 miles without flashing it up again... Should I be concerned? What should I check? Cheers

I just changed the oil pressure sender on mine - it was playing up giving 99PSI readings as well as Code J open circuit.

The new ones have 2 connections - 1 for the wire back to the loom and 1 for grounding. Either way, if you are getting Code J frequently but your pressure readings are otherwise ok I would wonder if there was a break in the wire somewhere or a dodgy connection to the sender. If your oil pressure readings are erratic too then perhaps you might want to pop a new sender in. You need to take off the airbox (I had to take top and bottom off) and the sender will be mounted on a small metal block with oil pipes coming and going from it, probably fixed to somewhere on the engine bay panels on the driver's side. Yours maybe in a different position to mine anyway - look out for "oil switch" marked on the wiring from the sender.
