In June, I had a moment of inspiration [possibly madness!! ] and bought myself a X reg 2000 Tuscan 4.0.
Full TVR SH, 20,000ms, de-catted in silver, beautiful car.
I remember when I first saw a Tuscan on the road, about 8 years or so ago now, I thought then, WOW, what a stunning looking car, I would love one of them one day.
A mate of mine competed in a Race version Tuscan, and had a Cerbera and Chimera, which he kindly let me have a go in all three, I have always loved TVR’s since.
Now they are very affordable, I took the plunge. What a car! Having owned as road cars, a V quick Escort Cosworth, an EVO 6 and recently an EVO 8 [ Fantastic car, but too efficient!! ]. The Tuscan is always an adventure, really brings out the passion of driving again.
I used to do quite a bit of motorsport, so am well used to warming it up, treating it carefully until warm etc, then giving it beans, but not brutally.
I have read a lot about the speed six Engine reliability etc and am of the opinion, that an engine of this type, if treated well, serviced regularly etc will last a fair amount of time.
However, I used to Rally a full works spec Mk 2 RS1800 Escort in the 80’s, with a 2lt BDG on fuel injection, not much power below 6000rpm, but 255bhp at 9250 and would rev to 10000, this spec engine, was strongly advised to have a re-build every 1200 competition miles!
Taking this on board, the performance the Speed Six engine provides, I think it is very impressive.
I don’t use it a lot, so expect it to last me a long time without tooooooo much trouble, but when I do, it always brings a huge smile!
My Fiancé, loves TVR’s, and was very excited when I arrived home in June with our new purchase, her first comment was “ I would like to take that to work”, “No problem” I replied, shall we go for a run in the Car, “Yes”. Just out of the drive way [ it was warmed up!! ]i floored it in 1st, 2nd and 3rd, all I could hear was F—king hell, f—king hell, “what’s the matter” I said, “ I cant breath” came the reply!
I have not been asked about borrowing the Tuscan since!

Welcome to TVR ownership and a great time ahead. Would advise to get in touch with your local group, for some great trips out.
You may need to get your Fiancé, one of those RAF spitfire pilot masks, with the oxygen tank attached. My wife about 2 years ago, got the courage to drive the car. Only time. Scared the pants off her, although she loved it. She has never asked to borrow or drive the car since.

Welcome to the Tuscan experience. Had mine for nearly 4 years and still grin like a kid in a sweet shop every time I drive it.
Took it out yesterday for a real country lane blast in the sun.....one of the best feelings/sounds ever. What a car.
When I lock the car and walk away, I STILL turn around, look at the car and think it is the best looking car ever made!!

Welcome to the club. Like "Jilap" I had a few fast cars before my Tuscan but always got bored of them after a year.(Subaru Impreza Sti and Rover coupe 220 turbo
) With the Tuscan I have never got bored. Mine too is a W reg 2000 model. Bought it in December and have done 8000 miles with only a couple of niggles. Enjoy your motoring

Yes welcome to the Tuscan club, they are truly amazing car.
It reminds me if when I took a work colleague out for a drive in the Tuscan , she screamed as I was accelerating through the gears and likewise claimed that she could not breath I would have been impressed If I had been trying but I wasn't I was taking it very steady..

Yes, Saturday was perfect Tuscan driving weather, there even better with the roof off, but, alas, i felt rubbish on Saturday
Not to be deterred, we went out on Sunday, and yet again it rained, still its a good way to learn about the car, which is huge fun in the rain! much more friendly than i have been told, considerably better than early 911's!
I have fitted some home made wind deflectors on the wiper arms, and no lift at all, even in 3 figures. If any one wants photo's, feel free to mail me.
