New owner - the story so far

Had a bit of a bad start to Tuscan ownership . After picking the car up on 29th August drove it home and done a few miles locally, parked on the drive then went to put it in the garage a bit later and it would not go in any gear - gutted! Especially as the neighbours were out admiring it at the time - had to sheepishly push it into the garage then try and avoid treading on my chin for the rest of the evening!

Fortunately, Dan Taylor had just opened up his new business, Taylor TVR, a few miles away and I had the AA deliver it to him the following week. Dan called me to say that the clutch was actually very new and that it was the slave cylinder seals that were gone - so big relief for the wallet . Dan also gave the car a thorough check over, the chassis plus the cam and valves and confirmed that all was in good health - another relief! Thanks to Dan for dealing with it at such short notice - top man!

Got the car back this week but have only been able to do a few miles due to work and the weather. Looking around the car last night (still can't believe its actually mine!) I noticed that the small sidelight on the passenger side is loose - can anybody tell me how to fix this back in place - do I have to get inside the wing or is it something that can be fixed in place with silkaflex from the outside? Also, can the bulbs be upgraded on these sidelights to make them a bit brighter as the headlights are HID and very bright these look distinctly orange in comparison?

Any help much appreciated.

Congrats on the Tiv. Funny that should happen to you. I bought mine in december and the exact same thing happened. Drove it back from Lancashire to Edinburgh and couldnt get gear. Slave seals were split due to lack of use. Whoever had the car before me never used it. (2000 model and only 21000 miles on the clock). Guys at trackvroad (where I bought it from sorted it out quick smart) Ace guys.

Well since then have done 8000 miles and only a few glitches. Absolutely love it.
My sidelight on the driverside is loose too. You will have to take the bonnet off and take the inner wing cover off to get to them. They are a real

There is a topic somewhere on HID lights at the mo so may be worth a look. (Legality etc of HID lights)

Anyway good driving. You will love the car. 8 months and 8000 miles later and I am still like this

everytime I drive it.

That's exactly what I was told, lack of use caused the seals to perish, 2001 car 22500K on the clock.

Sounds like a lot of grief to sort out the sidelight - I'll probably just leave it for now as it isn't flapping about.

Is it just the plastic lense on the sidelight that is loose? If so they just stick on with a bit of silican. Mine was loose and the weekend I decided to actually fix it, it wasnt there think it must be down the M5 somewhere. Turns out I got to buy the whole sidelight again.

I'm not sure - I will check it again over the weekend. I think that when I pulled on it it seemed to be attached to the wires but not to the bodywork if that makes sense.

ah so it the actual fitting. Not sure in that case. Although I will be taking mine off soon in order to change it.
