Help DAB Radios

Guys
I am being told that the fact my DAB radio does not give good reception is in part due to frequency created by the engine and that in fact they are no good in any tuscan. Mine is an 05 Tuscan2.

What are your experiences: especially if you have a good one and it works well.

My DAB reception was always better than the FM and was the only way I could listen to the radio at all. How bad is yours? Surely you'll be drowing out the radio with your right foot

DAB works fine in my car - with a boot mounted "bee sting" antenna & a ground plane made out of aluminium foil tape on the underside of the boot lid (underneath the carpet).

I have found DAB reception varies considerably across the country and hopeless in my part of the South Coast. Main issue is that when the signal drops, the VHF equivalent station will cut in but without the delay caused by the digitisation process. Makes it unlistenable to IMHO. You really notice the difference when in France or Germany where the signal seems to be much better - I was given a reason for this by a radio engineer, something about interfering with the French if we have our signal too strong in the South.

I had lots of correspondence with Pioneer to see if they could help, but apart from the bee sting ariel they provide, they had no other suggestions and lost interest in the problem.

Agree with previous post - ground plane on the boot lid helped a little, but basically fibre glass bodies aren't suited to decent ariels. Lotuses have the same problems.

I have a June '04 Tuscan S with a bee sting aerial, but when fitting some brighter HID bulbs the other week I noticed there was also another radio aerial mounted in the N/S inner wheel arch, with a ground strap to the chassis. The aerial was bent along the N/S front wing, facing back towards the windscreen.

Is this normal ?

Yea, that's the analogue Ariel.

My HID ballasts interfere with the radio something chronic when they're on so can't use the radio at night. Anyone know how to fix this?
