Tips for replacing the LCD screen in Tuscan 1

I bought a new screen from TVR Power. It was in the post next morning. £115 all in.
I followed the various instructions which I found on this site. Thanks for the tip about filing down the edge. I put it all together and reinstalled it. The screen was perfect but I had an error CODE E and the fuel gauge was not working. I removed the unit and reassembled it several times but no luck.
I called TVR Power who told me to try moving a microswitch with a thin piece of plastic. The gauge actaully does this every time the ignition is turned on. If you watch both the water temp and fuel levers go to zero then move to their positions each time the ignion is turned on. Anyway this did no good.
I took out the unit yet agian. I was sure it was something to do with the wire/plug connecting the stepper motor for the fuel gauge. I took out each connector from the plug to discover one had no proper connection, just the plastic wire insulation into the crimp connector. How this worked before I don't know but the process of dismantling all the boards and removing this plug to separate the boards must have broken the wire. I resoldered the wire back on to the pin in the connector and reinstalled the unit. Bingo, it was all working and the error code had gone.
As a tip to anyone replacing the LCD be very careful with the plugs that connect the water temp and fuel gauges, they are very fragile.
Now that I have taken the unit out and put it back several times I could do the whole job in 30 minutes. Easy when you know how. By the way the unit from TVR Power is cheaper and works perfectly.
