A few technical issues
Discussion
I’m just finishing off my Tuscan Mk 1 refurb and there a few things that are driving mad!!
1. How the f
k do you put back the door mirror ECU’s/alarm stuff under the drivers foot well?? The so called “Specialist” left it in a right state and I would rather fix it myself, can someone send me a picture of how it all fits or post one on this thread??
2. I have a random bulb loosely wired in under the gear stick centre console; should it go somewhere or light something?
3. The black rubber door end that sits on the aluminium strip has come off, I tried to stick back with Sikaflex but it came off again. Any ideas what else I could use or what the factory used?
Thanks in advance.

Can't help with 1.
2...This is the bulb that illuminates the cigarette lighter - it pushes up (and earths via) a sleeve on the edge of the lighter body.
3...Mine came off and I fixed it fine with RTV - maybe you didn't clean it properly?

3...I cleaned it with a solvent but there is still a lot of the old sealant stuck on there. Did you have to scrap all of it off??.....I was thinking of taking my Dremel to it as its not coming off with a stanley knife!
2....Is now sorted(quite easily)
1....Still no joy

Both my black plastic thingies from the end of the doors have fallen off and got lost. Does anyone know where I can get replacements and then how to stick them back on ?
I would give Racing Green a call, they seem to have most parts or perhaps one of the breakers yards like Bell Hill/Douglas Valley Breakers might be worth a go.In my Mk1, the door ECUs (window and lock release mechanism - not sure about mirrors) and the alarm unit (ultrasonic sensor) all sit in the space behind the ash tray in the centre console, sort of under the radio. You'll need to remove the centre console (3 screws) and them jam all the boxes into the cubby holes!!
Yes the door ECU's are under the centre console but the Mirror ECU's and some other Alarm bits and bobs are here in the footwell:

I've just stuffed them back in for now.....bloody things are pissing me off! I take it that a cover is supposed to go over them?
And now the boot has stopped working! Its not the switch, a fuse or the solenoid......but I have noticed that if I open the passenger door then the boot release suddenly springs into life! Do the door ECU's control the boot as well?
I'm going leave it for a while before I take a sledgehammer to it!

Exactly where that lot has been left hanging is a recess in the side bulk head wall. There should be velcro on the bulk head wall in the recess and on the black boxes. This is what holds them in place. The wires will tuck away once you have stuck the boxes in place. Not very neat I know but thats how mine is done.I've just stuffed them back in for now.....bloody things are pissing me off! I take it that a cover is supposed to go over them?

I also stuck the black rubber window bits back on with RTV. I did not remove every bit of the old right back to the paint, but enough to get a good bond with the new. If you have used a solvent (hopefully it has not damaged the paint) then this should provide a good bond surface.
The rear harness connector is one of the connectors between the drivers door harness and the Nose harness. I cannot remember what colour it is but it is a large rectangular connector with about 64 wire connector slots (not all wire slots are used if I recall). Sorry I cannot be more specific I am out of the UK and do not have my wiring sketches with me.
Good luck.
