chameleon paint job

Can anyone help me,Im a new TVR owner who has purchased a swordfish tuscan and I need advise on purchasing a touch up pen for a couple of chips to the bodywork.I spoke to a certain dealer in Harrogate and they say that the paint originally used is oil based and that they have stopped making this,and that it is water based now.Does anyone know the best way of tackling these minor chips without a full respray ???????

You cannot touch up chameleon paint, it needs to be spray applied, the paint in its raw form is very dark blue.

The best solution I found was (bearing in mind the angle you are looking at the car, it could be purple, blue or green) was to get some dark blue touch up paint close to the original colour and mix with some clear lacquer.

Covers small chips and cannot really be noticed.

Try Andrew @ Surface & Design who is very helpful regarding TVR paints. I only have expereince of reflex paints which will match albeit they are sometimes a little variable, but it is possible to get an acceptable finish on stone chips and minor scathches.

I have a cascade violet...the touch up is great...much better than white marks...even though as said here, the colour can look different at different angles, but like I said...better than white

The dealer said to use a purple touch up pen,how much would it cost to have the chips done by surface and design,it seems like a big job for half a dozen small chips ?????????

an old trick for chips on any dark colours is touch them in with a permanent marker and then t cut off the excess, leaving the ink in the chip, you will barely notice. If its small chips blobs of paint from a touch up will look awfull! hope this helps

TVR Power should be able to do touch up kits. as mentioned earlier it need a clear laquer to lighten to colour not perfect but you can get reasonable results. just looked in the garage but the kit i have has gone hard, sorry otherwise you could have had it.
