Tuscan Mk1 stereo replacement

I know that the stereo is not high on the Tuscan owners list of things to change but I want to keep my other half happy.
I've had a quick look at taking out the existing Pioneer stereo but it doesn't appear to want to come out. Does the parcel shelf have to come out? Can anyone provide a link or idiots guide on what needs to be done please.

Not sure if there is a guide anywhere but i'm sure there is a screw or nut underneath the stereo that is bloody hard to get to and either takes very small hands or lot's of patience, neither of which I have.

Ok, after going back through about 150 threads I've found a couple of bits of additional info. I have now removed the cover from the central console. I managed to get the nut out holding the pod in place, that only took an hour!!! Could they have made that any more difficult to get at?

So all looking good, that is until I see the connection at the back of the existing Pioneer stereo isn't what I expected. I have a Kenwood unit I want to put in and that has a standard block wiring loom. To save me the disappointment of removing the parcel shelf only to find that the wires from the pioneer fitting don't run into a standard compatable loom, can someone tell me if there is one behind there please?

Anyone fitted a multi CD changer in the boot, Do what appear to be possible openings at the very bottom of the rear windows actually go all the way into the cabin?

To remove the head unit you don't need to remove the pod or the centre console. You just release the head unit from its cage - using release pins or similar & then remove the cage from the pod.

My (original fit) pioneer head unit had a multiplug spliced into TVRs wiring, from memory it was a standard (iso??) type.

There is room below the 3 qtr windows to feed cables into the boot. Remove the B pillar trim & you'll feel the gap above the wheel arch.

it just slides out and has a standard ISO block.

have you got an early pod with out the door release buttons?

Is a multi changer not standard with Tuscans or did a kind previous owner install one fro me?

Multi changer is not standard in a Tuscan,in my MK1 it was a £250 option, I did not bother with one on my MK2 as it has a stero with an MP3 player as standard which is a far better option than a multi changer.

My MK1 came with MP3 adapter and I now never use the CD multi-changer. Just plug in the iPpod and let her rip! Once you have used the MP3 option you would never go back to CD multi-changer. The iPod option is sooo much cheaper in the long run as well.

Yeah need to get one of these. Noticed the changer likes to jump and skip when I get over a certain speed or the road is bumpy. Was planning on buying a mp3 head unit with a fold out screen but clutch going tit's up has kinda scuppered that idea.
