Another Misfire!!!
Discussion
Just bought 2001 Tuscan S, After 2 days of driving round aimlessly with a permanent grin on my face which was wiped of last night after spending 2/3rds of the day washing and polishing, Engine developes a misfire once at normal running temp, No error codes displayed on pod. Drives fine until you make the engine labour then it holds back as if coil is breaking down.
Checked HT leads and removed all spark plugs for inspection: all perfect as you would expect as car has done only 1000 miles since 38000 mile service and tappet check.
Never had Speed 6 before so this is new learning curve for me, will download diag software from Mytuscan.co.uk as soon as there server is up and running.
The wash and polish job consisted of bucket of soapy water and hose pipe No Jetwash used and service bonnet fitted so no water sprayed directly into engine bay.
Any hints/tips on what to look for while I wait for diag program as it could be somthing simple
Is there any manuals/books or web pages on spd6 engine??
Thanks in advance
Regards
Steve

Only had car 3 days and done about 300 miles as I just can't stay out of it, have been driving up to 2400erpm until engine oil temp reaches 60c, 75-80 water temp. Not 100% sure its there when cold as I have'nt been pushing it when below above temps. Have also noticed that it does backfire through airbox once in a while when cold. If I boot the engine 10 times when hot one time will be ok and not misfire
The misfire could have several root causes. It might need some fixing/adjustments, or - since the ECU is "self learning" might disappear after a few hundred more miles.
Has the car been sitting (not been driven) at a dealer for a longer time ?
Has the former owner used a different fuel (octane value)?
Is the battery OK, the fuel pump working properly, are the throttle bodies clean, fuel filter, air filter ?
Good luck with your new toy !

Thanks Jo, Will check throttle bodies tomorrow, Bought the car private and has had engine rebiuld 2005 and full reputable tvr service history, however this was a Sunday car. I did quiz the previous owner about fuel and he says should only run with 97/98 ron super unleaded. I filled it with a tank full of BP super unleaded, Used 2/3rds of a tank and then today filled it with shell V power super unleaded which did not make any differance even after a good run. Everything else works ok Battery ect etc
Thanks
