The standard speakers are basically shocking, i have had a good search but cant find the answer im after.
Can the standard speaker holes (in the sides behind each seat be enlarged to take a 13cm speaker? or those that have them in the rear panel, how much room is there beofre contact with the petrol tank becomes and issue?

Don't think you'll have much luck with increasing your options with the factory fit rear/side speakers. As for the space between the rear panel and petrol tank, again you have very little room - I fitted a pair of 6" infinity speakers into my rear panel. I made the extra space by making up a couple of spacer's from 18mm mdf, and then painted them to match my carpet. The spacers are fitted onto the rear panel, and the speakers are mounted onto the spacers. You'll have to cut correctly sized holes into the rear panel though, so be careful as you have the tank behind and so you can't just go drilling/cutting away. Also, behind the rear panel covering - which is usually carpet, the panel is fibre glass, which with the limited space you have is not easy to cut. Correctly locating exactly where you’re going to put your speakers is key – I cut the holes in the fibre glass rear panel from inside the boot, as opposed to inside the car.

Cheers Mr T, if you could take photos that would be great, the car is not with me (its in the body shop 50 miles away)so i cant look but i thought the tank was between the back of the boot and the rear panel in the car so could not drill/cut from the boot. I was planning on drilling a hole from inside the car, then using a small carbide burr to cut the required size hole in the fibre glass.
I'd be nervous about cutting the rear panel - it is likely to be structural (OK, I know the holes would be relatively small) and would act as a barrier if you had a bad rear end smash and there was a fire in the boot....not that a Tuscan would ever swap ends.....
The tank's not that hard to get out - I'd have a good look before the cutting starts.
Alternatively, someone on here once posted a nice solution involving the fabrication of a fibreglass speaker case that sat in the centre of rear parcel shelf with the speakers pointing towards the driver and passengers headrests. It was covered in matching carpet and looked OEM but wasn't.
I'm finding life with the original speakers OK during the winter with the roof on and windows closed. Different story in the summer but then not that realistic to listen to music with the wind howling round the screen.

I fitted speakers to rear bulkhead and found that TVR had kindly provided the holes already.Assume all the same. Just had to cut carpet and fit a spacer to mount a 130mm (i think) speaker.Backs protrude into cubby hole/ flap thingy in boot. Unfortunately TVR hadnt spent the extra 10p to run wires to the back and the plug was blanked off to the rear speaker channels so needs new plug. Gotsome photos somewhere, i'll have a look..

Holes cut thro carpet, fibre glass already holed
Two spare speaker rims glued together to space between speaker and carpet. This allows the larger speaker to fit
Cut old plug off back of headunit and replace with fully wired one. Does mean reconnecting wires tho.
Finished job. Well worth it.

Nope nether do i sadly. Pulled the carpet right back to have a look and the panel is hole free. Mine is a 2000 car, did the later models come with the speakers in the rear panel as standard?
Rtoy iirc yours is an 02? if so maybe it was at the point they were concidering fitting speakers there but never did?

Its on a 53 reg (sept). I think i had to enlarge the holes to fit the larger speakers, the holes where for a 10cm as fitted to the door pillars.
Extra speakers (origionals retained) have made the sound loads better, Would think better quality speaker would improve things even more.
I replaced the head unit aswell with an mp3 compatable one but probably no better quality, just means i can put 3or4hrs of music on one cd..

I was thinking of making another panel for the rear speakers - the current panel is recessed so it would give you a few more cm to play with and you could make it out of something solid.
Would mean you coulds get larger speakers and maybe a small sub in there.
Then someone on here put speakers at the front - would help bring the sound forward.
I have spoken to Carl but unfortunately its too expensive for me although I am considering going to him to help me get my radio reception sorted - I believe he has a decent method without mounting an external ariel.

Not sure if its a goer but a few of us could get together and have a 'install better radio and speakers' session.
I'm in Reading and potentially could sort a venue (aircraft hanger type of thing)
Is there a clever way we could bribe someone with experience to do a supervised group fitting?
Would mean you coulds get larger speakers and maybe a small sub in there.
Then someone on here put speakers at the front - would help bring the sound forward.
