Things have gone from to bad to worst.
last week my speedo died, next day my battery went flat, relayed home, took alternator out it was broken, new alternator, drove car today battery went flat.
My concern is something on the car is killing speedo's/alternators is this possible? Has a simple fuse gone? Have i killed another alternator.
I can replace the alternator but don't want to at the moment incase something is killing it. Is this possible what regulates the charging? Is the speedo connected?

Any ideas?

100 amp fuse sounds v likely
clever Trevor sell an improved replacement
at 125amp but more importantly better
chunkier construction...the old one has
tendency to hairline crack by several
accounts
Alternators don't really die very often IMO
speedo *could* be related...the dash
electronics does some weird stuff when
battery is low

I changed the 100 amp fuse near the starter seems to be charging again. All seems a bit strange the alternater and the fuse going at the same time. But hey that's tvr's.
I never knew this but there at least 2 100 amp fuses one on the battery that does the power steering and the one by the starter which is just an inline fuse for the alternator.

Fingers crossed off for a drive.

I think the battery on is the 125 amp chunky one... the 100 amp one is a strip in a fuse holder... We had a 100 amp one go on a T350 at Kirkbride Aifield in the summer..it melted the fuse holder!!!! My TVR man says also says replace the 100 with 125 amp.

Good job I always carry a few spares.

I've only broken down once in 4 years and 35,000 miles and it was the alternator giving up.

Very true, when my alternator was replaced the wrong type was fitted and the display was not happy at all looking as though there were power spikes on the lcd and the speedo was eratic reading 80mph at stand still, sometimes not reading anything at all.

No expert on the T2 (or T1 for that matterrolleyes )but isn't the second 100 amp fuse for your power steering?

ETA: just read on the Sagaris pages the power steering is on a 45 amp fuse- did say I wasn't an expert!

Been driving about most of the day all seems okay. On mine both fuses are 100 amp and that's what i have in my spares kit so that's what i used. If problem repeats itself i will use a 125 amp. I suspect just a plastic covered one would be a 100% improvement.
The sun is shining my car is working again happy days.

Is the fuse for the alternator by the air box easy to find?
I am hoping that is the cause of my problem otherwise I am cursed.
Picked up the car 2 weeks ago after having a new clutch fitted and on first drive the battery voltage is dropping like a stone when I accelerate - I assume that it is an alternator problem
but to have that go just after the clutch makes me feel someone above doesn't like me.
Is it possible that they could have knocked a lead loose whilst repairing the clutch?
The odd thing is the battery voltage drops to around 9 volts - the car starts kangarooing - I assume because not enough voltage for feul pump - but then jumps back up to 13v!
Anyone any suggestions?
I have checked the fuse in the passenger footwell.

The 100 amp fuse is quiet easy to see once the airbox is removed, it is in a black plastic cover quiet close to the clutch bleed point.Metal braded hose to the back of the engine.

Could also be a bad battery/earth connection.
