diagnostic Software keeps dropping out!

Hi,
Every time I connected to the ECU it seems to drop out within 20 sec's. Has anyoone else had the same problem and if so how did you fix it ??

yep, dunno how to fix it, only tried to connect it once. I was using a Vista laptop with a usb to serial adaptop and my engine was switched off. Will try it with the engine on next time. Also I have an old win 98 laptop with serial port so may try that.

I've read that is is due to using the usb port and it resetting after 20 secs. Im no computor wise so dont know if thats right or not. I have a serial port on my laptop just no 3 pin on the car!

No problems with XP( 98 used to be Ok too) and a serial port.

Vista doesnt like the software.

All,
i've Spoken with Dom at TVR Power who informs me that the TVR software is most stable with Windows 95/ 98.



Hope this helps someone 1 Day!

If you right-click on the icon/shortcut that you might have on the desktop (or in the programs menu) then you should be able to select the "compatibility mode" within the properties. Try setting it to Win95 or Win98 and see if that helps.
