Road Tax classification

I have just had it confirmed from the DVLA that my car has been dropped back to PLG and im getting a refund for the last two years.

Has anybody else been paying too much ?

My car is 4.0 2001 Tuscan which was registered with by CO2 of 405. This has now been set back to 0. Thanks to Ben Lang at TVR and Gavin Hooper at DVLA.

Yes, have a Griff which is currently classed as petrol car and as such is quoting a CO2 figure of 398 Have been trying since last September to get it re-classified as PLG, but keep getting refused. Got my MP involved, and surprise surprise, have received a letter stating that they are now going to re-classify it back to PLG. Result at last

I'm just having one registered so DVLA send me to VOSA for a SVA test and VOSA no longer do one as from the beginning of the month but are replacing it with a Individual vehicle test at the end of the month
but don't have an application form available and sent me back to DVLA for more info.
I think it varies on who you get on the day and varies from area to area.
what is the difference in price between PLG and co2 rated tax? IT is about time they sorted them selves out re tax especially as our dirty cars as many others are second cars and only cover low mileages Don't we already suffer extra tax by burning more fuel per mile?

Most cars have been correctly registered as PLG, but a few were registered with a CO2 figure, and so will be subject to the retrospective taxing of cars from March 2001, ie evnetually will be paying approx £440 per annum for road tax.(The government have only deferred the introduction of the new system)
I have just taxed my Sag which is PLG for £185, When i taxed my Griff (which shows a CO2 figure), i paid £210. Not a huge difference, but in a year or two`s time, thats when it will hit in.
Check your existing tax disc, if it states PLG, then you are fine, if it states PC, then you will be classed as a petrol car and subject to the new rules comming in.
