Tuscan Mk1 Vs Tuscan Mk2 ecu's

My car appears to have a tuscan 2 ecu fitted, is the mapping different? My car feels like it hits the limiter around 5.5k and im wondering if this could be the cause.
I seriously doubt it. As far as I am aware there is no difference, certainly nothing that would bring in a limiter at 5.5K rpm. I would look elsewhere, the list is long, but what comes to mind is:Ignition leads breaking down, Faulty plugs (had this on mine in the past), Coil breaking down, Crank sensor pick up faulty, Crank sensor wiring too close to HT leads (quite common), faulty throttle pot (there's 2), Leaking inlet manifold, faulty O2 sensor/s, choked air filter.... loose wiring on any of the above, faulty fuel pump or fuel starvation etc... etc.... I am sure others will pipe in with more. I would be ruling out the worn throttle spindles as if it is a fairly new car, low mileage this is unlikely to be the fault.
How do you determine you have a Tuscan 2 ECU is it because it has 3 connectors? If so many of the later mk 1's 2003 on had this ECU, mine had one fitted. Or does it say in black marker "Tuscan 2"? Probably the latter knowing TVR

yzf1070 - i have tried most of what you suggested as you have seen from my other post. I have not checked the crank position sensor tho so will try that, thanks.
Noisy - my car is a 2000 model with the 3 wire o2 sensors, the ecu is the blue square MBE.
Just to elaberate for others that might not have seen the other post, i have changed (for new) plugs, leads, coil, and 1 damaged o2 sensor reset diagnostics, throttles read pretty much the same throughout the range so i'm pressuming the throttle pots are good, no faults at all coming up. It do just have Tusc 2 written on the ecu.

Is the "Tusc 2" written on just the ecu fuelling chip or on the outside of the ECU alloy box? If it's just on the fuelling chip it has probably had a later fuelling chip put in at a dealers to help with the running of it at some point(for whatever reason).
If it's on the outside of the box, it's likely to have had a whole new ECU box for whatever reason.

can you drive through the 5.5K cutout, or will it not rev higher? If you can drive through it, this was a problem on some standard 4.0 engines, reported on here and the Tuscan group in the early years. Some used a replacement fueling chip called a de-throttle chip, supplied I think by TVR Power to resolve the problem, I don't know the exact cause. A call to Dom at Power might help you?
Its actually written on the outside case. Chip just has a lable on it with "Tuscan" written on it.
I tried to drive through it last week, and it did go but reluctantly, My god did it go when it cleared.
Not tried again since.

Not sure how I have this in my head, or where I heard it but I believe there may be somthing linked to the oil temp and revs on the T2!?!?
I.e, it wont rev above the 5.5k unless the temp is over a certain temperature, if this is the case then the temp sensor may be at fault!
Just a thought
