Classic Insurance (help needed)

I have decided to buy a Tuscan to enjoy on hot days and weekends only - in the garage most of the time...it will be a second car.

I wanted to know a little bit more about classic car insurance, before I purchase my Tuscan - so experienced owners advice would be much appreciated.

I have a few questions:

1. Does my everyday car affect the quote for the Tuscan i.e. does it matter if its an M3 or a fiesta?
2. Can multiple people be insured on a classic policy, or only the policy holder?
3. Does the car have to be over a certain age to qualify for 'classic' insurance? I know I want a mk1 Tuscan, but does it have to be pre 2000 etc?
4. Do you have to insure your first car with the same insurer?

Also, does anyone know of any classic car insurance companies which will allow me to insure myself (policy holder) and my wife (named driver).

I know that Hagerty will only insure drivers who have their own policy. As my wife is a named driver on our regular use car, she would now qualify for the Tuscan...no wife driving, no Tuscan

IMHO I would talk it over with Hagerty, they are realy helpful and knowledgeable.

I insure my MK1 2000 Tuscan and 1996 Chimaera with them for less than £500 for both, with agreed value and salvage rights etc, etc. You do need a shopping trolley insured with someone else (Suzuki Swift with Tesco) and agree to limited miles.
