Had this for some time but only just got around to fitting it. The first one did not fit as it was based on the MK1 Tuscan and the MK2 Tuscan 2 in true TVR fashion is slightly different , but top service from Tim at ACT and a new one was produce to new dimensions and fits very well:-

Very pleased with the looks although now need a S&D full opening bonnet to show it off!

Difficult to tell if there is any extra performance , but hope to get it mapped sometime.

Looks very nice.

Mine gets fitted next week...Not expecting any performance improvement, Tim does say mid range improvement. I assume you've got the trumpets aswell. Hope mine fits, got it a month ago. There are 3 versions now, one changed for the steering column change from Vauxhall to Ford and another change I think is the one you refer to...to accommodate the bulkhead (I think).
Besides my bonnet and I've had mine back to get to S&D to get the engine bay painted matt black...TVR just left it Black resin, with scratches...pick it up Monday, X-Works on Wednesday and Chatsworth to show it off on Sunday.... woohoo

PS Might be a bit of polishing in between.

PPS TVRs fix to avoid hydraulic lock if you drive through a flood was to drill holes in the bottom of the Airbox, my ACT one doesn't have these holes, I'll look at the old one when it's taken off and let you know what I do. I'm expecting to have to drill it...Did your old one have holes in the bottom ??? (other than the holes caused by the mis-fitting plastic thing!!)

Keith correct it was the clearence for the bulkhead that was a problem and this had not been come across before so I took some measurements and the new base was produced on these. The one I have does have the trumpets. The old airbox did have the two holes drilled in the base just above the alternator for leting the water out, I decided this was not such a wise move and have not drilled these in the new airbox, I think it would be better to have holes in the inlet tube as was done on some MK1’s.

You will also need some fittings for the two impulse lines on the airbox I got these from RS, also while I was fitting it I drilled out all the rivets on the catches and replaced these with stainless steel bolts with nylock nuts.

I really like the opening bonnet you have from S&D, if you don’t mind me asking what sort of price did you pay, e-mail me if you prefer.

They are £875 + VAT, so not very cheap. Then if you are not able to fit it yourself there will be a couple of hours labour charges as all the fixing holes etc have to be drilled.

If you look in my profile, the BLOG on the car has all my costs... S&D were talking in the region of £600 (without struts), assuming no paintwork required. I incorporated having a front end respray at the same time. You really need to speak to Andy at S&D , I got mine a bit cheaper 'cos it was my/Peter Brems idea.

My Tuscan is pretty well smashed up at the moment after an accident but if its not written off and the Insurance is covering the repair bill then I will be going for a hinged bonnet. I think that the carbon box looks so much better, an extra 800 or 900 quid is worth it. (not sure my Wife will agree ?!?!?!)

Thanks,
Tony.

Got mine done by Heath at X-Works today. Glad I didn't attempt it myself, it was a tight fit to say the least. Needed plenty of lubrication to get it in. biggrin Did as you suggested Nick, replaced pop rivets with 3mm allen key stainless bolts and nylocs. We've put the hydraulic lock holes in...apparantly it was a Bulletiin to Dealers to do it on ALL Speed Six engines.
But very pleased with the result...Now all I need is a carbon plug cover (that's your fault Nick!!!) to match and some silicon hoses. This is the result.

That does look fantastic. The carbon plug cover will finish it off nicely.

You guys are making me want to spend a perfectly good weekend polishing engine bits! How did you guys remove the "pitted" look from your engine block?

Don't forget our cars are only 3/4 years old and we had painted camcovers to start. Scotchbrite is good if its heavily pitted aluminium..(like the back of Saucepan Sponges/Scrubs), but will scratch paint if there's anything painted close by. I then use Meguairs Metal poilish, although yesterday I borrowed some stuff called "Peek" (for cleaning ceramic hobs) and that worked well on the aluminium pipework. But its mainly elbow grease I'm afraid (and plenty of spare time)... biggrin
