I am a potential owner and was also interested in this...
I am sure that you can change the oil, plugs, filters yourselves without having to go to a TVR specialist every time?
How can you check to see if the valve clearances are ok?
Is there a service manual for the Tuscan, or has anyone made one themselves with pics...this would be SO SO helpful.

To be honest, I think the majority of people who have TVR's or are currently looking for one, one of the main points they are looking for is a full service history from a specialist indie or from factory when it was about. If you are worried about re-sale, get it done properly. Out of interest how many people manage there own service, bit overdue for one but not sure if i want to spend 500quid at Levens just for a service book stamp. Im very capable to do the service myself but a bit worried about future resale....

I agree. When I bought mine, first thing I looked for is the services history. You may be a very competent mechanics, but the buyers don't know that. TVR isn't a conventional car, there are other things needed to be checked too. I won't trust a local mechanics to touch my Tuscan, it got to be a specialist.
speak to your garage about how much they would want to do to give you the stamp - if they would agree to you doing anything. You might be able to use a more cost effective oil for example.

There are lots of things a reputable/good/experienced TVR mechanics should be checking above and beyond standard service items... unfortunately I have my doubts that even main dealerships are doing what they should. Having seen recent cases of recall work not being performed (hub carriers), dealership bulletin work (holes in airbox to prevent hydraulic lock), checks on Anderson connectors and battery terminals....and all these cars had main dealer stamps.... So besides the stamp its important whose stamp it is .... that I'm afraid you learn with experience yourself.
Yes i agree with Glowworm have had some bad experiances with main dealers in the past. Surley a competent person with the right tools and parts can carry out a more detailed service as long as you keep bills that coincides with the work you have done. Thats say parts come to 100quid thats a lot of saving for us guys and girls that live in Essex, and anyway if you had your service managed at a TVR main dealer how do you know that they have carried out everything on the check list, do you check whats done......

Recently paid £500ish for a 12K service on mine at X-Works BUT I wouldn't take it anywhere else. Top guys there, service is excellent and after all they are the ex factory service guys.

Excellent price for all of it and excellent service from John and Dave and I know if there is a slight niggle when it's up here, I can phone them and they'll give advice over the phone.
I maintain mine myself, but it still has the services carried out at the right time. By maintaining it myself, it eliminates alot of small service jobs that can take time and cost you money in labour charges.
Ie
Check the brake pads yourself, they're easy to change and will save 1hrs labour at an average of £60 an hour.
Check suspension bushes, easy to change (Except the diff bushes).
Make adjustments to hanbrake etc...... easy and eliminates additional jobs at the service.
Basically the only service items I get charged for are engine and fluid related.
Ie
