Desperately Seeking!!

Hi all. After reading and following the forums for quite a while now I wanna thank everyone for all the info I have gained.
I'm now in the position to realise my life long dream and buy my first Tuscan. The only problem I have now is finding the right car at the right price!
I've spent many happy hour reading all about your experiences and advice and it has proved invaluable. Insurance quotes have been got (and are way cheaper than I ever imagined!!) and I've been to see a couple of cars.
I have a budget of around £20k for the car and bit put to one side as an 'if and when it breaks' fund!
I do have a couple of questions which may help me widen or narrow my search accordingly.
Air con is something I have always thought must on any car but a couple of dealers selling non a/c cars have told me its really not worth having, is this the case or just B.S.?? It is only going to be a fair weather fun car for weekends etc so no daily driving needed. (plus I always feel, if the sun is out, the top will be off anyway).
Also I see I can maybe get a newer / slightly better equipped car if I go for the 3.6 instead of the 4.0. Will I have to compensate much in the way of noise / performance in reality or is this just a few un-noticable tenths on paper?
Secondly, a few people have told me to go for an 's' if possible, but again, in reality on the road, will i notice the difference!?

Also as a final point, if anyone knows of any cars for sale that may be worth considering, please drop me a line. I have the money burning a hole in my pocket and I need one now!!!!!!!

As far as Im concerned aircon isnt really necessary, Roof off 93mill miles headroom nuff said. would recommend phoning round the garages, the good ones can tend to go before they arrive if you know what i mean.
Good ones, i.e. nice exterior and interior condition, engine rebuild and a/c aren't very common...
i went for one with aircon cause i know my wife doesnt really like roof off motoring, even though i do, but it makes for an easier time for me if i want to use it with her in it you see, if i put the aircon on she has no excuses

Mine sold just hours after putting it up on pistonheads. The good ones do sell quickly. Take your time though and don't rush.
A/C is an advantage, but not a necessity. But the more the car has, the better when you eventually come to sell. Some people consider A/C a must, others aren't too bothered and buy a car on condition and history. But given the option, I'd obviously take the one with A/C on two idential condition cars.

Totally agree with what Jim said. i have got Air Conditioning, I don't use it much. However, according to my experience, my lady next to me doesn't enjoy motorway blasting without the roof on, and air conditioning becomes very handy in this case.
I haven't driven any S models, and I agree I am not sure if Ican make the most of the S power in daily driving, however i think the front spoiler does help on steering. My standard model seems to be a bit nervous on high speed corner. I am sure some experts here will tell you the joy of having a S on a track. I chose the standard model purely for aesthetic reasons, as i didn't like the rear spoiler - personal choice.

I think I have to agree with you on the spoiler on the S kind of upsetting the lines of the car.
As for the A/C reasons, I'm lucky in the fact that my wife already has a convertible and is of the opinion that anything above 10 degrees constitutes roof down weather!
I guess all thats needed now is to find a car!!!

i have to say i use my a/c a fair bit, particularly if i'm driving through slow traffic and town. I also had the same dealer b
ks about a/c not being that useful when i was looking to buy my car last year. Clearly it's better to have something than not have it and given the unpredicatability of the UK weather it can still get pretty warm in the cabin when conditions outside are unsuitable for getting the roof off.

I wasn't concerned about a/c - it's something else to go wrong, something else to maintain (you have to run it regularly to keep the compressor and seals lubricated as someone has already said), and it's not really necessary.
I have to admit that if the sun is bothering me (rather than heat specifically) i leave the roof panel on but remove the rear window and drop the side windows. You get so much airflow when you're moving in this configuration, it's wonderful...

I have a T350t with air-con and even with the roof off it comes in handy to blow nice cold air onto my face. Don't underestimate the amount of heatsoke these cars suffer from the transmission tunnel. PS, I hear there could be e new addition to the family.. Ive been back there twice too, this could see the T2 being sold very soon. Ill keep you posted.
