Rattly doors ?

Chaps,

I'm gradually working through the wee niggles on the Tuscan, and up next are the doors. I don't know if "they all do that sir" but my doors make a really cheap horrible rattle when I shut them. Sounds like the window mech rattling about.

Any suggestions before I take the door cards out?

Anything else I should be doing while I'm in there? Drying / protecting the window controllers for example?

Mine do the same, I hold the glass when im opening/closing the doors. So I would like an answer as well.

It's probably the window frame which bolts into the door at 3 or 4 points. Mine used to do it and it got to the point that the windows would rattle against the door when driving with it wound down part way. One of the allen bolts can be seen in the trailing edge of the door, but the rest you need to take the trim off to access.

Mine do this too, when part down, was considering rubber / silicone sheet either side of the glass in the door frame, or even some kind of felt...

Easy fix, put some insulation tape round the striker (the bit in door), then the catch is not longer metal on metal, and sounds lot better.
Bit more expensive fix is to put sound proofing on the inside of your doors and door card. I used sticky backed 12 mm Duct Foam sound insulation from Custom Audio Designs. Two 1 metre x 1.2 metre sheets (code F120) , but cost about £60. http://www.customaudiodesigns.co.uk/absorbers/duct...

Doors now feel like coach built ones with a bit of weight, and just close with a nice clunk...instead of that tinny sound.
