I agree. Its vitally important that the car is 'well planted' on the road.I recently changed to the Mk2 Grille and even though I have purchased the winglets and got them sprayed I will not fit them until I can find a rear spoiler that is esthetically pleasing to me.
So if someone can design one, pls message me!

This may be true but has a Tuscan mk1 ever been near a wind tunnel to prove it? I can understand the theory behind it but don't know how much effect the rear spoiler makes, obviously neither could TVR looking at the different sizes on a T2!Hi Rens, just put it on. As if TVR ever used windtunnels. They were formed out of a block of foam you remember?
And you are right, at high speeds they are scary anyway, so what the F**k. The factory should have fitted proper dampers in the first place, but since you will replace them as well you already understood that this will make more than up for the missing rearspoiler.
I really like Gerjo's rearspoiler, but think they belong on a Mk2. A friend of mine picked up a Tuscan Mk1 a few weeks ago (when we were racing my Challenge Tuscan at Rockingham) and driving behind it i decided to remove the S spoiler (from my street-Tuscan that is) as well since the design looks much cleaner without.

They are supposed to make a difference, something like 25% more downforce if I remember correctly.
At speed they can handle quite well with the right set up (and dampers), especially a MKII.
Dries, my chances of going to Zolder have gone up from 0 to 5%, so maybe maybe maybe I'll see you there.

ok.
Rens, the only solution is that you try it for all of us. If you don't post for, let's say, one month, we know you are hanging somewhere in a German tree along an Autobahn and we shouldn't drive at high speeds without the spoiler.
If you survive however, please post so i can get my spoiler removed.

for the drivability i should have kept my heavily upgraded esprit turbo
and
won't be in zolder. i have a 14 days meeting with my wife in Ibiza were we still own a place (yes i know. we are old hippies)
like Tiger woods states. a tree is for about 80% air. so perhaps i will fly through

Bit suprising that NO Mk2 convertibles were supplied with the large spoiler and it was optional on a MK2 targa...afraid I don't believe the aerodynamic story (you'll be telling me TVR put it in a wind tunnel next) ... I'm told (by TVR men) the designer of the convertible boot wouldn't have something that held a litre of water each side on his car !!!
Although from memory can't remember a splitter (ala Chim/Griff type (which is only there to help cooling air flow) on my Tuscan) only the front wing splitters, is there a underbody spltter on a targa ??? I'll get my ramp up now to have another look.
