Is this true? Cost?

From what im reading in the general forum is that compared to some of the other TVR's a Tuscan is alot more to run and maintain than other TVR's? Is this true?

In a sense yes!! What its actually saying is that a S6 engined car (Tusc, 350, Tam, Cerb) will likely cost a lot more to run than an RV8 engined car. Same also goes for the AJP Cerbs!

From my experience my 280i Wedge cost more to run than my Chimaera and my Tuscan has cost far more to run than either. Not complaining mind.

I must be very lucky, my tuscan,s have only (and i average 15,000 miles a year) cost me is the servicing.....In contrast my chims cost me a bloody fortune

I have to agree with you, had my Tuscan 5 months and only cost me a set of leads and an M.O.T of which it sailed through.
My Chim cost me £2000 in 4 months as engine went bang and shortly followed by the diff falling to bits

from all i have read the earlier tuscans have been expensive to run until they have a engine rebuilt to sort, there after they seem to calm down.. the later tuscans seem, from reading, to have been sorted in that area on the whole. My 350i cost a lot, no let me rephrse that, A LOT more than my Griff. but in its defense it was an older car AKA moneypit.

Whilst a Mk 1 can cost a lot to maintain, it is still cheaper than my ex S80 Volvo, which cranked up 5k in the 1st year.
Its also more comfortable (weird that) uses less fuel, and cheaper to insure (weird again!)
As for fun, driving the tuscan is a sunny day where as the volvo was just drab....

The main criticism of the Tusk is engine rebuilds. They dont all blow up, having said that mine is on its 3rd (previous owners).
My feeling is that engine wear is down to the owner. Mk1 Tuscs came out in the late 90's and were purchaced by peeps that wanted to thrash em. show the porker owners whose boss...etc and they did! hence the woes. ( i think you will find that more porche/Dancing donkey/mad cow engines went pop than TVR, even given the manufacturers numbers, I also think that TVR owners are more honest about problems theyve experienced and this gets used against the marque

If the engine goes boom, yes its expensive, and yes because its a propriatory TVR lump its going to be more expensive that a Ford/Rover Volvo lump,but still cheaper than a Pork/dancing donkey or mad cow lump.

Ultimately, you choose the car you want, and if youve done your research you havnt bought a lemon. TVR is no different to all the others except in one possible area. If you buy a good one you will love it forever, nothing will compare. If you buy a bad one, you will spend a fortune on it, and you will love it forever, warts and all!

I was probably responsible for giving that impression... my point, badly made was .... that the guy had £9-12k to spend and had considered a Tuscan. I just considered that to be a non-starter... with that money ,he'd be getting an early Tuscan MK1/Speed Six and I suspect not a very good one. So if he'd spent all his cash , he wouldn't be able to pay for any problems he might have... just seemed a recipe for tears to me.
Trouble with TVRs you can spend a lot of money on them and enjoy doing it, for some strange reason (which is OK if you have the money available to spend, bit like gambling ).
