How difficult is it to remove Speed 6 engine
Discussion
My engine has blown up and was wondering is it difficult to remove ,I am a time served mechanic ,some years ago, and it doesn't look that bad to remove but these things often end up been a nightmare so I was looking for some tips please.
Also I've been offered a spare engine at £2000 in working order is that cheap of expensive?

Not a difficult job.
Most garages with a lift will remove headers and lower it out from underneath.
With an engine hoist you need to separate engine and gearbox and need to get the engine out with the front lifted high to clear. Always tight on the scuttle.
Personally I would rather get yours rebuiilt than spend £2k on an engine with potentially no history

I have been quoted 20 hours labour to take out and put back a Speed six engine. Doing it yourself shouldnt be too hard providing you got the space and tools.
What exactly is wrong with your engine? It may be cheaper to salvage what you can and put that £2k into new upgraded engine parts.
