Hi
I would like to know what are the downsides to having too much oil? (I mean, the oil level being higher than the "MAX" indication on the stick when read with warm oil).

Thank you

If it's dry sump you might overflow the tank. On wet sump engines it can result in oil/crank contact and oil spray blowing out of the breather.

Exactly that!
Plus 2g cornering forces & an oil surge!

My excuse, oil far too clean!

All sorted & back at castle combe yesterday without drama!

General thinking seems to be that up to a litre over there shouldn´t be a problem. The factory always used to overfill mine at services by about half a litre or so.

I think (slightly??) ovefilliing mine caused a misfire at high rpm due to the oil breather breathing into the air cleaner and causing a fuel/air mixture issue. I also believe it can cause blue smoke under very hard acceleration.

There's a mod to stop you doing any damage when over filling with oil I found out this weekend from Graham. He knows you know but probably after the event.

All you have to do is ask the all knowing Graham. bowlaugh
