dipstick...

Can someone tell me how long your dipstick is?
and then i mean the oildipstick

Mine is about 15" / 38cm and i orderd one from tvrcarparts wich is 13"/ 33cm
can anyone explane?

The orignal is 38.5 cm, and the Leven one I have is the same.

to be 100% acurate i think the right mesurement should be
where are the markings min/max from the bottom of the dipstick cap
min (hole or dot) is on 36 cm
max is on 31.5 cm
that should be the same on every speed six with exactly the same oil tank

oil tank on tuscan is taller than tam t350 and sag so may be wrong dipstick

more to the point you got a min and max point! Mine just has some thread at the end which I guess is either full when oil is up to the top of the thread or low when the thread is dry.

That is the same as mine. But I also have a max on mine too.

What's this, your on dipsticks now?

I can have a look if you want but mine should be the same as NCE's. Not sure if the MKII has the same stick as the MKI. What happened to the original one?

Slightly OT but did anyone ever get to the bottom of whether the max/min is done screwed or unscrewed?

just measured mine, the total lenght is 38 cm. Strange that Nelly1's is shorter although it is a MK1 as well??

Why don't you weld it back into place? That way you have the original back.

(Everything fine here (now that Infinity has left the building ). Tuscan has been doing nothing for two months now. Couple of TVR's passing by in Septembre on their way to Millau; will join them for a day or two.)

That's measured from the bottom of the cap (see pic).

If measured from end to end 38cm is bang on.

da_murphster it is supposed to be checked by dipping not screwing. In otherwords when you have unscrewed it, kill the engine and replace without screwing it in.

Also you should always check it after the same style of driving. Hard driving always check it after hard driving, slow driving always check it after slow driving.

Cool it. drive it slow to warm and check it. Cool it, then warm it then drive it hard and check it. Cool it warm it and then drive it slow and check it - you will see that the reading varies but (assuming your engine is not using oil) it actually does not use any. Hard driving will give a lower reading.
