paint blistering on bonnet

Anyone had any problems with blistering pain on concave part of upper bonnet? I noticed yesterday after a long drive in the country. The fibreglass is very thin so not sure if its just fractured and split the paint or if its heat from the engine?

Heat issue.

You need to add heat shielding to the underside. Try thermotec or Nimbus products. This will prevent it from degrading more. You can also have the manifolds ceramic treated to reduce radiant heat, but do not use exhaust wrap as it traps condensation and soon you will have very rusty manifolds.

If you have ever suffered a missfire that will have done it. It makes the CAT's run extreemely hot due to the excess unburnt fuel going into them. They should not normally blister paintwork. However Tuscan's will discolour over time and therefore as has been already said get some heatshield and whack it on there. I ordered some from the US a couple of days ago. Thermo-Tec do it.

Is this the stuff you mean. Mine is showing signs of degrading and I want to sort it before I pay £600 a litre for the paint.

Yes that's it - I can't vouch for it as mine is yet to arrive and be fitted. But the figures look good and I would be surprised if it's didn't do the job.

The gold stuff looks awesome (had it in the Noble engine bay) but on a Tuscan it would be somewhat wasted.

Haven't had a definate cost yet but its whats been advised by two body work places. It is pearlecent stuff, Halcyon Atlantis. If you have a recommended body shop around hertfordshire I would be glad to hear about them
