Hello from a new Tuscan owner

Hi all,

I flew down from Edinburgh to East midlands airport today to pick up my first TVR from James Agger ( top bloke I'm sure most already know). The drive back, 280 miles, was great. Well it started off great with the roof off, but I got caught in a monsterous rain shower I had to stop in a slip road and try and put the roof on in the rain, which I wish I had practiced. I made hard work of it, still I could see the funny side even half way through fitting, even amongst the honking of horns from fellow motorists. I got soaked

Anyway All the scare stories about wet weather driving I sat in the inside lane at 60. Even at 60 in the rain I had a grin from ear to ear. I was surprised that I couldn't see any leaks. The weather soon cleared and I took the roof off again and for the first time I floored it through the whole rev range 1st, 2nd and most of third. Sorry to be cheesy but my heart rated increased. I have driven fast cars before but none thats quite so exhilarating. Awesome noise, speed and twitchyness. Not sure if the twitchyness is a good thing but it adds to the thrill. Most fast cars Ive driven have gone fast without much drama or nice noise, etc. 420bhp evo VI, Audi R8, Lotus evora. The closest car for thrill I have driven would be a supercharged lotus 7 style car. Still Tuscan top the lot. Its so cival and easy to drive slow too.

Now the small bad bit. The car occasionally started to miss, hesitate, lower down the rev range. especially in 4th and 5th. There was even a couple of pops from the inlet. I'm hoping its either damp from all the rain or HT leads. Just had my first look under the bonnet and the spark plug cover is siliconed in and it looks a bit daunting at a glance. The leads were purple i think. I hear they go regular so may buy a set. Wheres the best place for online parts? I will be getting the car serviced at TVR in calender but will try and do more of the simple faults.

Anyway I have rabbited on a bit. Overall love it, awesome cars and great dealing with James Agger, top bloke.

Love the Tuscan. Do you live in Edinburgh? It is always nice to meet a fellow tivver. Look at my profile and you will see mine. Live on the south side and always up for a wee hoon. If you fancy I know a few guys in the area and we are always up for lunch and a drive.

I stay out Loanhead direction, outside Edinburgh. A few miles past Ikea. Meeting up sounds a great idea. I would like that.


Plugs, leads and silicone ordered up. I have purple leads which are apparently rubbish. The fun/expense begins

Get the carbon fibre cam cover off Biggriff to save having to use silicon.

Hi Great Looking Tuscan,

I was just beginning to get over TVRs after selling my Tuscan 2 years ago...

But I spotted a cracking MK1 tuscan in Inverness just like my old one and it sounded awsome, brought back all the old memories and feelings. So now Im trawling the classifieds and searching down the side of the couch for any spare cash!!! I feel like a heroin addict desperate for a fix!!!!

G2ORG B I already know what you mean. There cannot be many cars that can give you such a rush, never mind the fact it's all for a reasonably small amount of money over similar cars, if you can call them similar.

as someone said to me, welcome to the big grin club

re your misfire, sounds electrical, would suspect spark plugs and moisture at first, then HT leads then coil packs. After that - fueling.

Give James a call and ask what he suggests, would imagine he will get it sorted for you...

I will fit the leads tomorrow. i ended up sleeving the cans today hahaha. I couldn't wait to hear it. I was worried it would be too loud but naa its awesome. Loving it. Just a couple of light hesitations today.

I think I need to change the stereo though for the longer motorway drives. Its awful. I will need to have a search to see whats best.
