no hot air help please

just replaced the stepper motor but still dosent work, ie the stepper motor doesnt move the flap, theres no life in it whatsoever.

i have checked the two fuses, 25 and 28 and both are fine.

any ideas?

iv removed the heater control dial from the center console, but as theres only 6 pins coming from this im assuming everything goes through the heater ecu?

iv found a black ecu box up in the passenger foot well, its similar to the two door ecus is this the heater ecu?

That's the one.

The box could be faulty, but more than likely it's just a dodgy connection.

Check the condition of the terminals in the connector, making sure there's no broken wires where they are crimped, and also that there is no evidence of corrosion.

It may also be a dry joint inside the box where the connector joins to the PCB.

This is easily checked by taking the lid off and having a butchers.

does anyone have the ability to check the heater ecu and the heater switch?

i cant see anything physically wrong with them.

Paul Smith of X Works Service is the guy who repairs all the ECU's - as they name implies both him and Heath Briggs are X TVR. So I am told they have a workshop full of all the ECU diagnostic kit from the old factory. If you get really stuck, i'd go to them. They are on the TVR CC site somewhere.

The problem with black boxes is that there is no way of testing them apart from swapping it for one that works, do you know someone who you can do this with? X works repaired my heater ECU, it had burnt itself out.

yes i would like to do this but feel its abit of a liberty to ask someone if i can swap some bits over to see whats wrong with my car... lol

but maybe il have to ask and see whos around this area, im in portsmouth hampshire.
