Cant remove the radio

Hi all,
Just trying to install a new radio and can't remove the existing one.
I can slide the radio out most of the way, but it seems that one/some of the speaker cables are "too short" to slide it out the rest of the way. I don't wat to use brute force and ignorance, so how do i proceed? It seems that the best way might be to remove the pod from the dash shelf, but i can't see how to do that.
Any ideas please?

cables can't be to short
they can be caught on the backside
you can fiddle with a long screwdriver round the back of the radio/pod
perhaps something loossens and your problem is solved
if not
i would pull it out with force rather than dismounting the pod

Thanks for the reply rens. It was the cd stacker cable... and it is too short. I can't see how it was ever fitted, but i have managed to pull it out. I'll search for the other end and see if it can be released further, bu fortunately, i'm fitting a Fusion radio, which has a slot to fit an Ipod, so don't need CD stcker anyway.
I have found the retaining bolt for the pod - but you have to remove the radio first It would appear that it is bolted through the bottom of the pod into the transmission tunnel. The bolt is turning, but not releasing, so i'll have a play with that another day

thinking of taking the radio out too and mounting another on wich i can use my i-pod
perhaps there is a special cable i can use on the original radio

Having had a play for much of the day today, i can reccommend the Fusion. I'm no audio expert, but being able to simply slide my ipod into the head unit, with no cables, and using the head unit controls to manipulate the Ipod is just so easy (and all for £99). I'll probably upgrade the speakers now... because i have just realised how poor the standard ones are!

The CA-IP500 doesn't remember its place when searching songs, forcing the user to rescroll through the taxonomy multiple times. Fit and finish is less than stellar, and some iPods are difficult to remove. Any future iPods with different physical sizes will require a new adapter sleeve from the manufacturer.

The bottom line:
The Fusion CA-IP500 iPod receiver's internal iPod dock is an interesting solution for taking digital audio on the road, but we've seen more elegant and similarly priced solutions from its more established competitors.

Rens, if the Fusion is not first choice, are there any other head units out there which handle the ipod slot-in) in the same way? Also lloking to upgrade my Blaupunkt Woodstock+CD changer too.

yust googled and found the comment on the fusion otherwise i would have stepped in and bought it too.
at the moment i use a i-pod connecting wire in the back of my pioneer (instead of the cd changer cable) and that

I got the Fusion and recommended it to Blues. I know there might be a few navigation peculiarities, but starting from A is not the hardest each time. As for the front face being hard to get in, I very rarely open it. The iPod stays in the car, gets charged and only come out once in a while for a re sync.

As far as I'm aware no other unit has the iPod inside it. Which is the reason I got it, the Tuscan has very few places to leave the ipod without it sliding around on its lead, and then the visibility of it when parked up. This way its hidden and secure.

Speaker upgreades help. I moved the originals to either side of the radio pod, and this brings the sound stage forwards. Then fitted to new 13 cm components to the old side places.

Tuscan al. Have you any pics for the new speaker possitions near the radio. I have mounted two tweeters at either end of the parcel shelf and thinkign about upgrading the 2 small pioneers in the side.

I haven't but will take some tomorrow. Its rather basic though, just slid them in the tray. But they fit tight and stay there. Some enclosures would improve the sound.
