Hi guys,

Im in Essex, and am looking for a TVR friendly bodyshop, that do good work but dont charge the earth.

I had a quote for £1500 for just the front end which i thought was well and truly OTT.

Any suggestions are welcome even its not local.

PR Woods near Southend have a good reputation for TVR bodywork as do Hilton coachworks in Bishops Stortford.
Biggest trouble with the reflex paints though is the cost - anything up to £800 a litre for some colours.

Try Ryan at SP Automotive in Chester, http://www.spautomotive.co.uk/. He did a great job on my Tuscan, let him know I recommended him and it will be £2400 for a full respray plus the cost of the paint.

Spectra FX emerald blue flip paint is similar to reflex green and a lot cheaper. http://alsacorp.com/products/spectrafx/spectrafx_p...

How many litres of paint does it take to do a car?

S6 Devil how many did you buy? What is the cost per litre of that paint? Yours still looks stunning...

It's approx 5-6 litres for a full respray. The spectra fx is a powder that is put in the clearcoat, I bought 96 grammes of the small flake powder. You will need a black basecoat, then the clearcoat with the spectra fx powder in, then about 5 coats of lacquer.

Worth giving Ryan a call as he knows the process.I think all in, my spectra fx paint cost about £500 which is more preferable to the reflex paints that are about £500 a litre.

BDM, your car looks stunning, I would stick with that colour if it were mine, can't be many in that colour around.

I do like my colour, i would like to tidy up little bits but the paint is so damn expensive. I have seen some paint on that website which is pretty much the same as mine so i am very tempted... I mean just to get the side bits on the window painted is like £300...

So you basically bought 2 gallons? (can see they go by gallon on that site)

idea Did you ever think of having it foiled ?

Materials have improved over the last years and it should be at far lower cost (believe to have heard something about 1500_ish for a complete car)

Anybody some experiences?

Yes, car is stripped, doors, bootlid, bonnets etc. Airbox off, engine is then covered and bay sprayed. Chamelion paints aren't cheap, may be an idea to look for an alternative as I did!
