This afternoon I took my Tuscan MK1 out for a drive (great weather in the London area!). After parking the car in front of my house and I walking away I noticed that the car was dumping quite a lot of petrol out of its overflow pipe (the one at near the right front wheel). I never noticed this before. Is this a normal? O yes, I just filled the car with petrol (not to brim).

Mine did exactly the same thing on thursday. Wasn't nice to come home to 2 large puddles at the front of the car, especially as I didn't know what it was!

Fortunately a call to http://str8six.co.uk explained that, as I had only driven it about 2 miles since I filled up, it probably expanded after being sat all day in the heat. I took it for a drive and it seems no harm done, so I'd say it's "normal", although I won't be filling mine quite so high in future!

By the way, does anyone have a picture of the "overflow tube" by the front right wheel? I can't find one on mine. Thanks.

My car did exactly this outside a very remote hotel in the Pyrennees. I'd filled it brim-full 15 km earlier, then parked it on a steep slope. My problem was that with the left side of the car much lower than the right, the point where the fuel return line plumbs into the tank was under the fuel level. What was even more scary was when I popped the filler cap off and a couple of litres of fuel fountained out over back of the car, including the hot exhaust pipes - don't try that at home!

Moral of the story - don't park on a slope just after you've filled up with fuel.

Mine done the same thing on Saturday. I filled the car up with as much petrol as I could before stopping for a good 5 hours in the sunshine. When I got back to the car, there was two puddles under the front. The car smelled fumey all the was home.
