Tuscan de-cat guide - where is it??

How loud is a decat with standard cans. Just now I have 3/4 length sleeves and its perfect for my neighbours and loud enough for me. Due to cats killing engines I would like to take them off and remove the sleeves but worry it will be loud or not sound as good as sleeved cans.
Where are you guys buying decats?

Take off both exhaust cans.....This allows you to drop the front of the exhaust system without the exhaust cans touching the body. Take off both stainless steel under-trays, undo the exhaust hangers on the rear cross member of the chassis, (The but leave the hangers that are in the wheel arches attached, this allows you enough movement to undo the cat securing bands (The big "O Bands") and drop the front of the exhaust to remove the old cat. Then I used a drill with a flap wheel on the clean both the inside & outside of the exhaust pipe, spray in a little WD40 and slide in the decat, lift the exhaust system up again, and fit the large end of the decat back onto the manifold......Turn the decat a few times to make sure you have a perfect fit, and re-tighten firsly the Large "O Band" (Decat - End of exhaust manifold), this allows you to then slide in or slide out the exhaust system onto the tailpipe section of the decat to get the right adjustment on the system. Refit the rear exhaust system hanger (Rear Chassis Cross Member). Put the exhaust cans back on, and make any adjustments on the exhaust hanger "L Bracket" (TVR's bent piece of threaded bar....LOL) to adjust the rear of the exhaust/cans to get the right height and any left or right positioning. Once it's hung in the correct position go back and tighten up the final exhaust camp that secures the exhaust system to the tail end of the Decat. (By doing this last, it allows you to move and position the exhaust system with stressing any of the joints. Then repeat the same thing on the other pipe. (Obviously you need to remove both of them first, and then refit in the reverse order ..... When refitting, do the highest pipe first... You'll see what I mean if your doing the job. No real problems at all.

I'm undecided on the noise of de-cats - with CCC its very loud - headache loud.
A lot of my driving is long jaunts and on the m'way it'ss quiet but on B-roads it really is loud.
Its also not just loud but it rasps a lot (still with CCC) I have heard with standard exhausts its quieter but still rasps.
But, conversely, I saw an extra 50 miles out of a tank of fuel - and that was on a hard B-road blast to Wales.
What I really want is Decat benefits and CCC noise.....
Edit: I got my decats off flea-bay but NTEL has a good rep for these.

I had the same issues with de-cat and ccc's - just too damn loud and I wasn't enjoying blasting through tunnels or under bridges any more as I would be deaf for 5 minutes afterwards 
I love the pops and bangs from the CCC's when the engine's up to optimum running temp and couldn't bring myself to take them off. Instead I put the cats back in and sold the de-cat pipes and chip.
To me the difference in performance is not noticable but I have in the back of my mind that they could be getting too hot and not doing any good to the chassis.

They definately don't do the chassis any good - when I had a look under mine all the paint had been burnt off - something I need to tackle.
Will be looking at other TVR exhaust options to see if any different rear cans take the edge of the noise.
That said drove the Tuscan into work this morning and thought the de-cast sounded great - didn't venture into high revs though.

1hr and 6 mins - but that was a rush and by god did I loose some sweat (and some blood - pinched my hand attempting to get the exhaust onto the cat!)
I tryed to do it without removing the rear bits - don't see how you can do it.
You can leave the rear cans on - just be careful they do not mark the body.
But you need to undo the exhaust hangers (L-shaped bar - of which annoyingly I'm missing one) to be able to get the lateral movement (ie move exhaust towards the back of the car) to be able to feed the rear bit of the exhaust onto the cat (need to move it about 5 cm backwards)
I was taking pictures to help others but ran out of time so they are a bit random!
Anyone know where I can get the L-hanger from - is it just a screw bar that is bent? Could I get one from screwfix?
