i want to get a Tuscan advice needed

after much questioning about it, ive decided i want to go for it and get a Tuscan, i want to start looking now because im looking to buy in 4 weeks give or take so want to start looking for one, see a few and avoid buying a dog, really just want to know what to look for and if one has a few things that need doing how much their likely to cost, my budget is £15k although i could go a little over if there was a really good one and ive factored money for repairs seperatly.how much do you usually put away for repairs on a monthly basis?.finding a good one seems to be a bit awkward though as many are in colours that do nothing for me or have done high milage, theres an S on autotrader with over 50k on which must be one to avoid?.
regarding rebuilds what places have proven to be good apart from TVR Power?, ive had a Griff before so know to expect a few niggles etc, my only real worry on the Tuscan is the engine letting go, my final question was are there any places able to service TVRs in Europe?.

A high mileage is not necessarily a problem problem as long as the car has a recient engine rebuild and has a FSH.
I saw this really smart one on Autotrader with an engine rebuild 10,000 miles ago, may be worth a look if the engine rebuilds within the last few years -

Buy on condition not milage. One with 50k will of had most of the issues sorted and may of had a very caring owner, mint chassis, where as one with 15k may have been thrashed from cold, been sat with a salty untreated chassis and be about to go pop.
Mileage is really not that important with these cars, its the way they have been looked after.

I bought a 2000 Tuscan 17000mls, mls but cannot be guaranted, engine rebuilt and got invoices in total for over 11ooo pounds, all repairs are done within last 2 years!
I bought this car for 11.000!!!!!!!!!!
Then the tuscan got new paint and gaz shocks, now 2nd year in mý hands
no problems at all!
Most important is that owner has well looked after all niggles, proper warm up procedure allways done, good engine rebuilt and less driving in winter!

i would agree more about the mileage with a Griff or Cerb and would quite happily buy one with 50k or 60k on the clock, are the Speed 6s ok at this sort of mileage provided theyve had a rebuild?, obviously know to check that the chassis isnt rotten and the electrics, air conditioning etc work.Mileage is really not that important with these cars, its the way they have been looked after.

There are cars with more miles and no rebuild still going strong. Or like some you could buy one with only 20k, already having had one rebuild for it to promptly fail. Unless its had a recent rebuild there really is no telling. Like i said mileage is no big deal, buy on condition and keep a nice little pot of money just incase.
i remember when buying a Griff things were a bit more clear cut, the engine wasnt so much of a worry, but from what people say on here the speed 6 does seem to be a bit of an enigma, not going to put me off though ive wanted a Tuscan since i first saw one, are the nitron upgrades worth doing if not already done?.

the speed six engine is a race built engine
don't expect an engine like in a bmw or mercedes built on reliability
if you're ok with that buy a tuscan, if not don't bother.
depends on the age and specs of the car but you'll need to upgrade the supension
even with upgrades the tuscan still can feel weak from behind
nitrons or protechs can help a lot
but i have even sent my protech's back for a harder setting because i'm used to race set-up cars (they did this for free/super service)
do have a look at the rubber under the car
a lot of forum members try to keep money in the pocket by keeping tyres older than 3 years under their car or buying cheaper brands
the only contact those 380 bhp and 1100 kg's have with the black surface is about 4x 100cm2.
buy semi race tyres and burn them every 2 years in order to experience the pleasure of driving the tuscan

My Tuscan has been used as a daily drive since new!! the previous owner spent mega bucks on all the upgrades and i'm the one enjoying it for nothing!! My Tuscan had 45,000 on the clock but had a full rebuild @ 25,000... Forums | Tuscan | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
