After some long motorway driving, I noticed whilst in traffic a loud mechanical whining noise, which seemed to come from the passenger rear side (near the fuel tank), is this something to worry about? I think owning a tuscan is making me rather paranoid?!

That's what I thought! lol It's a pretty loud noise and only started sounding after a hard drive, so I was getting paranoid it was something more serious..you can tell I've been driving a Peugoet too long! Cheers

second the suggestion of the fuel pump...see if you can get it on a ramp whilst making the noise, you will be able to feel it / hear the vibration if its tired out...

I had the same whining noise from the passenger side, I opened the door let the misses out, drove off out and it stopped! I know its been said before but the old ones are the best ones.

Are you sure it's a mechanical noise. If your getting it after a long drive it could be the fuel tank breather.

next time it happens, try releasing the fuel filler and if it hisses as the air rushes in, that's what it is. It'll be especially noticable when the tank level is low.

Common TVR quirk, my old chimaera used to do the same.
