Space savers

Does anyone have any idea where I can get hold of a space saver spare wheel for my Tuscan. After watching top gear a couple of weeks ago when they changed the wheels on a chim chassis to the narrow wheels was wondering if anyone has any ideas where you can get hold of one. I do a lot of miles and long trips so would like to have one just in case. Have looked on the usual websites and ebay but nothing.

Chims and griffs are a 4 stud wheel so their spacesavers wouldnt work on a Tuscan 5 spoke hub.Have never seen a space saver for the T cars.

OK lets start with the basics - whats the PCD on a Tuscan?

According to Graham Varleys book it is this (Graham hope you dont mind a wee quote)
Standard 18" spider rim width is 8.5". 4 1/2" PCD 5 studs (assuming the same for the Tuscan as the sag)
Offset for the front is 42mm and rear is 33mm
Wheel stud/nut size is 1/2" UNF torque to 76-85lbft.

Will have to measure mine again (as it is a Tuscan) but have had some wine and it is a tad baltic in Scotland here and I am being a big woos to go outside again.

Haha.

Yes a bit damp up here at the moment. Scotland has its moments though.

Ian (B'stard Child) have measured mine and also according to mytuscan website this is the sizes. 18" - 8.5 X 18, 5 X 114.3, ET 33 Rear, ET 42 Front. Spigot size I am not sure of. I think it might be 63mm but could someone confirm.

OK well spigot size was gonna be my next question

5 x 114.3 is J-tin spec so I'd be looking at Japaneese cars to donate the space saver rims

Recommended max speed limit for space savers is 50 mph and they are rarely the same rolling diameter as the std OE wheels so a slightly smaller overall diameter wouldn't hurt for temporary use but I'd be trying to keep the differential to a minimum

I had my LC stored over winter once on 4 space savers - drove it our of the garage and turned it round on the driver before putting it back the other way round - it wasn't fun!!

72mm iirc, Jeep hubs, was my scuppering point when trying to get some jap rims on. Most jap is 58 mm or 62 mm at most. Guess as its a steely you could enlarge the hole.

Thanks Ian and everyone for the replies. Jesus that would make for interesting handling especially if it was a tad damp. When I had an impreza STI before the Tuscan I had to fit the space saver and almost had to wear a nappy when I accelerated from a junction.

It would be a limp to a station fix. I wonder if anyone would be interested if we get enough people together that we could approach a manufacturer to make a one off set of wheel space savers kind of like the tuscan window clip situation.

His dad..me ..runs a garage and i told greig im not comming out with the breakdown truck to bring you home when you belt a kerb . hence tyre. mind you im looking for a space saver for my cobra.
