Dash light dimmer switch
Discussion
My car is an early 2000 without the dimmer switch on the left of the pod (for the dash light/speedo) however its got a late spec pod which is meant to have the switch (actually has a pinout where the connector for the dimmer switch connects). When I stripped it all every thing was fine, so I expect this is why the analogue speedo is not illuminated at all.
Can anyone confirm this? I could do with getting hold of one of the switches but im not have much joy, low value part and i expect the breakers cant be bothered. Or if anyone has the wiring diagram for the pod i should be able to work out which of the 3 connections does.

I don't have a wiring diagram, but if I were a gambling man I'd bet on the three connections being for each end and the wiper of a potentiometer. For the electronicists out there, I'd guess on a pot for a configurable gain non-inverting op-amp which drives the light for the display... (tbc) If someone has a spare pod out there maybe they could measure it to confirm and let you know what the end-end resistance is. I am quite sure you could get one to do the job from the catalogues of RS or Farnell, if it is like the config described. Let me know if you want me to have a peek at mine. J
Might be worth asking for the number of the lady who does the dash repairs - she'd surely be able to tell you/us what the component is. I think her number could be obtained via TVR Power who seem to be advertising the dash pod repair service.
I would dearly like to get a set of schematics for the pod (in fact all the electronics). Must exist somewhere.
