solar powered trickle charger?

Hi guys,

I have invested in the above, I was wondering if anyone has any experiance with these or if they are compatabile with the lighter socket as some disconnect when the ignition is off..

Pretty sure the Tuscan lighter socket is direct live otherwise people wouldn't be able to use ac powered tickle chargers.

My experience of solar powered trickle chargers is that they don't work....maybe things have improved in the 6 years or so since I last tried one.

I asked a similar question over on the Griffith forum a few weeks ago. A number of people posted some helpfull replies:

I never bothered with a solar panel in the end and bought an Accumate charger with the ciggerete light adapter. Every two weeks if the car hasn't been driven I pull the car around to the front of my house and run an extension lead to the car to charge it.

That seems like a good idea to me.

I'm using one as I have no access to power where the car is parked and it's working fine. I'm even getting power from the strip light in the garage. Admittedly the charge is low but it's enough to keep the battery active. Bought mine form maplins for £10.
