How often do you change diff oil / gearbox oil?

Im just asking out of interest really, a number of the service schedules I have seen quote a ‘check and top up’ of these oils not a change. How often do they need doing?

when it's on a ramp a check and top-up is only minutes work
you can tell from the outside if you're diff is leaking.
a check is always better than having to replace it
but when you're sure it's full and it's not leaking there's no reason to do it again

Thats part of why i asked. Its listed on most service schedules as 'check & top up', not change. I wondered how often its changed if not done at servicing time.

Sounds like 'never' to me! So i guess the question should really be - how long does it last?!

Yes, it "should" be done at all 12k services, well, i know mine has

All fluids and oils (Brake,Coolant,Gearbox,Diff,Engine) should be CHANGED on your 12k service which should be every 12 months.

You may have to ask for it and you will probably have an extra over charge but it's worth it. Oil and fluids are cheap compared to a rebuild.

Edited to say I have my 12k service done after the winter lay up.

STR8-SIX change all of the above on a 12k service.

12k service should be every 2 years though, not 12 months (or which every comes first).
