Engine rebuild warranty

I've been helping a friend look for a Tuscan, we found a nice looking car with a Racing Green rebuild, but when they were called about the rebuild and the remaining warranty they said it wasn't transferable to the new owner.
Now I'm personally looking at getting my own engine rebuilt, I was going to do the build myself but the extra warranty will give piece of mind but also increase resale value should I ever feel the need to part with it, but if they won't transfer warranties it seems the resale value wouldn't be as good?

I have just had a TVR Power rebuild done also and on asking Dom he said there would not be a problem in tranfering the warranty to any new owner!
he does seem very confident with the engines he builds!
p.s may be thinking of selling so if anyone in the market drop me a line. Still considering options but if the right offer came along could be tempted

I bought mine just after the 1000 miles service following a Power rebuild. I made sure I took it to Dom for servicing so as to keep the warranty.
As you will know if you read my previous posts I've had some issues with the cooling system which at one point were being linked to a head gasket failure.
At no point did Dom even mention the waranty. He simply said bring it to me and I'll sort it. Which he duly did and wouldn't hear of any discussion around payment for his time.
Truly top bloke and that's why I'll be taking mine to him for any work/servicing in the future despite the fact it's 100 miles away and RG is 12 miles down the road.
It's all about customer satisfaction and word of mouth. Dom's biggest asset is his reputation and the fact that it's so good is well deserved

That cannot be true about RG?! That’s terrible and would definitely put me off a RG rebuild
With a decent product a long warranty should cost the provider nothing - so with a short warranty makes me think so they not have the confidence to provide one?
Will massively effect resale and with the high turnover of these cars that will definitely effect sales.

Spoke to Dom today about rebuilds but forgot to ask the question if they transfer, but he's very confident in his product so can't see there being a issue.
Friend is still looking for the right car, there have been a few to consider but its a issue of finding the right colour combo and price, seems the good cars have picked up in price lately, very few private sales on the market as well doesn't help, good news for current owners though

Dom will transfer warranties from owner to owener, he even suggested to me that if i was doing few miles that may even extend warranty at the end of the 3 years standard.
Did look at a RG rebuilt car before I bought mine, and it had been rebuild twice as the first time it all went wrong! read into that what you will

From my experiences with Dom i cant speak highly enough about him. He will always try and help out and offer genuine advice based on his experience.
His rebuilds and warranty speak for themselves.

I have also used RG since for various parts (as their parts site is quite good), and whilst they are polite, if things go wrong their communication isnt what it should be, in fact i have found it to be quite ignorant.

Very interesting read. Please may I ask if the RG rebuild is a FFF design or a much earlier standard rebuild? During my first engine rebuild with AutoC**** I was told by the proprieter that they were selling thier rebuild components to RG. I have no idea if this was in fact true or not, but if it was then based on my resultant ill experiences using AutoC**** components I would have little faith in a similar rebuild and hence wouldn't blame RG for not transferring a warranty. However, RG seem pretty damned sure their FFF design is a robust model, if I was in the market for yet another rebuild I would be asking the question about transfering warranties, simply for support of resale value. Power seem very open about transferring their warranties, RG being the nearest competition to Power it would surprise me to learn that they do not transfer their warranties for FFF rebuilds.
On the subject of after sales service and support, I have actually purchased very little from Dom (it's just the way it has turned out) but everytime I have had to call or email, his advice and help has been exemplory.
