Overheating query

I was under the bonnet yesterday replacing washer hose. Today the car overheated. I hope it's just that I disturbed the plugs for the fans.
If one fan is unplugged, will that stop the second fan from kicking in? I can't imagine that I disturbed anything else.

Sounds like you still have some air in the system which you'll need to bleed. Not too sure the procedure on a tuscan but there's normally a bleed valve on the radiator. Mr C

Which area did you work ?

If it was the area under the windscreen wipers :
Check the bulkhead connector (behind the airbox, remove airbox)
Also check the connector at the ECU water temp sensor at the back of the engine (on the left from airbox side)

Thanks for that Ronald, because I did have my arm jammed up under the airbox, maybe something up there got disturbed.

I have checked the things mentioned earlier in the thread, but it's still spitting out coolant and the fans aren't coming on. Now I'm thinking that either the relays or the actual sensor are shagged. Anyone had any experience with these?

Seems a coincidence though that you were under the bonnet and now they arent working?

Also worth checking plugs and relays for corrosion, i know its a different style plug but my Cerby has a pretty rusty connector, stopped both the fans.

What temp are you seeing on the pod? is it normal accurate (fans on at around 92-94 and 96-98)?

If the pod is reading low it could just be a faulty cap on the water tank.

thanks to all for your input. All sorted out now. Turns out it was a complete coincidence. At the end of the day it was the plug on the temp sensor for the ECU. It had corroded and splayed the spade connectors. Finally chased it down when I could get the fans to come on by wiggling the plug. managed to get a small pointy thing and some contact cleaner in there to clean out the corrosion and close up the spades. Plug is now solid, where as it had play in it before and fans operate as they should. Got to get the wheels sorted now, new thread incoming.
