Heat sink group buy.
Discussion
I recently had the cats put back in the car as I wasn't keen on the raspy decat sound. I'm now getting a hot gearstick knob. I am waiting to hear back about having some tuffnol heat sinks made. If anyone is interested then a group buy would be cheaper. Not sure of the price yet but hope to hear back tomorrow. Fitting can apparently be done by removing the centre console, a piece of threaded bar is also needed.
If anyone's interested do let me know.

Count me in, sat in the queue to get out of Chatsworth my hands werent happy, rather warm (in fact blooming hot!) gearknob by the time i got out!!!
Question: How wrong does it sound to ask a mate in the passenger to feel hot the knob is?
Answer: Very

Are they a difficult change? Sounds fairly straightforward but i have never taken the centre consol off...

Removal of the centre console is very easy, usually two screws on either side by your knee and one under the rear console air vent. Apparently it's an easy change, there is a pic of the tuffnol sink here. http://pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&t...Question: How wrong does it sound to ask a mate in the passenger to feel hot the knob is?

I'd be interested in buying one too.
How many on the order to get a reasonable price then?
Nick
Not sure yet but I am led to believe that anything over 10 will make it cheaper. The more the better! How many on the order to get a reasonable price then?

I heard back from the guy who is going to be getting them made, they are based on his own which he has had fitted for a year. He will be back in the UK next week so can't get a price until then. At the moment I have no idea of price whatsoever!
This is an extract from the suppliers email:
"the heat transfer is caused by there being a metal pathway from the gearknob into the gbox. so what i have had made is a tuffnul gear stick that replaces the ally part not seen ( its under the leather gaitor)
the gearstick is attached to the gearbox via a cap head bolt ( 3/8 unc from memory ) and the gear knob screws onto the top of the gearstick.
with the tuffnul gear stick you still use the cap head bolt at the bottom, but as a male thread cut into tuffnul will be to brittle we have cut a female thread and used a small length of threaded bar to attach the gearknob to the gear stick.
sounds complicated but its very simple once you see it."
I will update everyone when I know more next week.
