Car's cutting out
Discussion
I'm gonna start another topic because I have more info!
The car is cutting out (like you have turned the key off) and Code L message is appearing on the pod. It's been suggested that the Speed sensor is likely knackered. However the car has cut out on Idle a few times today as well as when moving! Could this still be the speed sensor??
Also when you try and re-start it's not staring straight away - It likes to be left a few minutes before it's willing to fire back-up!
Any suggestions would help

Same here - the engine is cutting out and I get an EFI fault message on the screen, then when I try to start it up, the fuel pump is either not priming (even if I push the alarm button..), or it will start to prime for a second or so and then stop. But, if you leave it for a few seconds, and then arm and disarm the alarm, it starts again..
At the same time though with the above, I also had issues with a misfiring engine, and the car is currently looked at. But they said that the 2 problems dont sound as if they are related.

I would almost go as far as saying that i guarantee (dont hold me to it though lol ) that its due to fuel pump relay, as it sounds exactly what happened with mine. That is to say that it would cut out, then not start on fiorst attempt.... give it 10 sec to a minute and it would work again until the whole process repeated itself ... either at a light changing green (lol), or motorway exit etc etc...
I have to agree with Tuscain. I had the same problem. The Fuel Pump Relay is right above your loud pedal big toe and can easily be caught by the end of your foot. The relay is a big black block and sticks out a fair way from the fuse panel. As it keeps working itself loose, it can end up cracking around one of the pins. It's easily and cheaply replaced (I believe it's a GM/Vauxhall part). Mine looked perfectly OK but had an almost invisible hairline crack where the pin meets the block. You'll know it's the relay if, when the car dies and won't restart for a while, try turning the key to see if the fuel pump relay fires up before ignition. I used to unplug mine, let it cool down, plug it back in and start up again. I ended up carrying a new spare in the car JIC.
