Air con gone wrong.

Bought my Mk2 Tuscan last year have never used the air con.
Didnt even bother last year in Spain.
Anyway, a bit hot in Germany today so switched on the air con.

Heard a click from the front end followed by another and another and another and............
Decided to switch it off again so still not used it.

Anyone know what all the noise is about ? Definitely didnt sound healthy.

Only click i can think is the pump and it will click in and out randomly so maybe normal.
How often were the clicks?

mine did same, Poor negative ground causing oil temp sensor to go haywire too.

Check bulkhead plug behind air box & red wire connector at pump too.

Can also be the idle speed being too low causing the air-con compressor to cut in/out. I have mine set to 1000 RPM to avoid this otherwise as you say it does not sound very good.

Thanks for the feedback all, the clicks were about every 1 to 1 1/2 seconds.
I've booked her in at Air Co. specialist near my home.
I'll post the outcome.

When I had the Chimaera, my mates dad sorted the airco on that. Charge for evacuate system, Vacuum test system and refill refrigeant (with oil)was £55.

The blown air was icy cold - result! Unless a component needs changing then don't pay any more.

You should run your AC at least 20 mins a month to keep the oil in the compressor moving and the internals lubricated.

TVR Power have a solution and will be fitting it on my next visit hopefully.

Not sure of the details, Dom did have a look at the problem and believes he may be able to come up with a solution. In my case the air-con clicks constantly when the idle speed is low and the engine is cold. Once the engine is warmed up I don't get the problem as much but it comes and goes.

Its your tick over thats too low as mentioned
just up the revs to about 750-800 rpm or start the A/C when moving its to prevent stalling at tickover.
When starting the compressor for the first time, that is when there is most load
