Erratic pod readings
Discussion
My mk1 Tuscan has developed an annoyingly erratic pod readout, mainly affecting the rev counter, but also the temperature gauges. It manifests itself as a tendency for the revs to spike to 4k or 5k+ when under normal loads (not idle), but only does it intermittently - sometimes the reading is rock steady. The temperature readings are also jumping around by +/-5C.
I've checked the ECU readings on a laptop and they are completely normal, not fluctuating in the same way as the pod readings. This feels like some sort of earthing problem to me - has anyone had similar?
If so, can anyone help me with:

If so, can anyone help me with:
- Where the pod is earthed?
- Any other earths or connections to check; I'll look at the engine strap (near the driver's front wheel arch?) first
- Could it be the 125A fuse? I've heard this causes all manner of random problems when it starts to fail
- How to dismantle the pod, in the event that I need to send it off for repair?

Hi Pete - the only thing I can help you with is to send you a photo guide of how to dismantle the pod, that a fellow PH member sent me some time ago. Email me with your details if you want: costasarapo@gmail.com.

This is what caused my pod to have all kinds of odd readings, it was cracked and sparking across the crack. It was temps that were all over the place though, revs were stable.Forums | Tuscan | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
