"bangs" in the petrol tank?

I ll try to describe the best I can, so that you can tell me if you ever had that and if that's normal.
This week end, i heards some "bangs", coming from the petrol tank (I think). They usually occured shortly after I started the car, or stoped then engine. When I open the tank, there is more pressure than usual (i think).
The only thing that changed recently was that I used 99 Shell V-power... (instead of ron 95) and obviously the major heat wave these days.
Is it something I should worry about? Has anyone got that as well?
Apart from that, done ~ 200 mils over the week ends, nothing to report except ~10 "bangs"

Being new to the TVR experience I can add that this is something I have experienced regularly over the last week or so. When I asked my local garage they said it was down to the weather (the heat) and it was nothing to worry about. I've got to be honest and say it frightened the s**t out of me the first time it happened as I was going a little faster then I maybe should have been going down the A1 lol
Yep the 'bangs' are the fumes in the petrol tank caused by the build up of pressure in the tank. In the RV8 cars it can be reduced by putting a small nick in the seal of the petrol cap to allow the fumes to escape, I'm not sure what the seals used in the S6 cars are so can't help there.
Had this on my first Tuscan, was told it's the fuel tank breather pipe being kinked and/or blocked and a common fault. Was told this can create problems due the pressure build up/release and could eventually cause the tank to crack. Fortunately I crashed that one before any problems occured.....

Personaly, I would have taken it to the garage.... Would be cheaper, no??Get it fixed..the vacuum caused can implode a tank.. not sure if a blocked carbon canister can cause it.. my advice is go to a recommended TVR specialist everytime..main dealer or independent. On Chims and Griff Leven petrol caps are often the problem..because they fit

Can anyone explain how to check/unblock the fuel tank breather? where is it exactly?thank you
Folks, had this on my Mk2 Tuscan. Took it to TVR Barnet who drilled a small (circa 3 mm) hole in the filler cap to allow venting and it's solved it. The hole needs to be right in the centre drilled through the plastic side of the cap and through the rubber section but not the metal section comprising the locating part of the cap. When looking in the hole you should be able to see through to the metal section. Doesn't leak and stops the scary banging. If I had any IT skills I'd post a picture by unfortunately I aint so I can't. HTH.
