Seat Bolster Repair

From making a few enquiries I found what seems to be a pretty cost effective option that travels 'to my door' for leather repairs in my local area of Surrey.

My seat bolster is a bit scuffed and marked and does not look pleasant imo.

So tomorrow a Surrey company is coming to my workplace to do the repairs in the carpark and all they need is a powerpoint and payment from me afterwards.

Thought it may be an idea to share this, as I'm sure I am not the only unfortunate soul to need a little repair work done on my interior leather.

Pictures of before and after will follow tomorrow.

Mine isnt damaged as such, just has lost its ivory colour where you get in and out, the leather is still intact.

So, whats the repair technique and how cost effective?

from what I can make out Rob the can fill any cracks, abrasions and small holes and colour match a spray on top, which apparantly will not wear away.

Will post some photos of the damage tomorrow (Cycle to work normally, car on drive)

To say it will not wear away is probably a bit optimistic, however it should last for a few years. I have seen other repairs done and they look good at the time of repair, not sure how well they fare.

Yer fair comment softtop to say it will not wear away at all is a bit strong. But if for the price I am paying, the seat bolster looks good and lasts more than 2 years I will feel job well done.

I think I need a new Camera as the one I have is pony... although keeping it at the bottom of my bag for storage doesn't help.

The guy is turning up at around 1000 so will hopefully post after photos then.

To be fair glow worm it was this original post that highlighted leather repairs to me so have been on a bit of a mission this week getting quotes and stuff.

Well the guy has been but unfortunately has recommended he doesn't do the job as the stitching in my seat is blue and this will dissapear with the leather covering and look a bit odd

Anyhow for people based in the south without different coloured stitching on the seat try Autoshine Repairs based in Leatherhead area 01737 555527 . They will charge £60 per bolster, but cannot comment on results.

Good news though he has recommended me a chap also based in Surrey who will re leather/ stitch parts of the seat that need replacing and I am about to phone him for a quote... what a disappointment

read your thread and saw this that kind of applies to my seat:

"use fineline masking tape along one side of the stiching re-colour one half of the bolster then remove masking tape, re-tape along other edge of stiching and re-colour other side of bolster .

this way leaves No dye on the stiching , but for colouring stiching best ask Gliptone or LTT when changing colour, guess it will be ok thou as when some people re-colour seats (same colour)and the stiching also gets re-coloured."

I would drop it over for a quote but you work all the way in Kent and the Tuscan is my only vehicle so it would be a right old mare getting public transport back if I was to leave it with you.

I would do it myself but would probably make a hash of it and plus I'm finishing the fitting of my kitchen at the moment so finding time is a pain.

And I wouldn't even know where to start in getting the products from, colouring, method etc etc...
