Sometimes if shes hot and has to stand still or go slow in traffic it doesn't want to tick over and cuts out, generally speaking though shes good as gold (touch wood) Just had new engine and all mapping done etc about 700 miles ago. Does it need re-calibrating perhaps? Also occassionally jumps out of 2nd which it never did before the engine came out and now also has a grind into reverse, again anew feature since engine swap. Any ideas?

not sure on the idle front but the gear issue does sound like the n/s engine mount has failed, i tend to go through 1 a year, was this replaced when the engine was put back?

One a year? What are you doing to it?

It's the heat from the exhaust manifolds that melts it, especially if in traffic. Mine's on the way out again after only 4k miles. Been sat in lots of traffic over the summer so that's the cause.

Do you put it into 5th before going into reverse? I was told that the first time a I drove a Tuscan and have done it ever since - no grinding

One engine mount a year seems a lot.

Sometimes small surface cracks in the rubber do not mean deep cracks and a breakdown of the mount.

I have had a garage say a mount needs replacing before, then taken it to The Garage, Compton for David to say "nothing wrong with that engine mount".

I do feel Garages take the piss sometimes in getting work... scratchchin

There can be issues with heat soak after a while, with oil and water temperatures in the 90s. Try adding waterwetter to the coolant. It may help a bit.

car is used in traffic and driven quite hard on hoons and track days which tends to ruin the mount, this service it had gone completely, previous years ive just had it changed anyway as it wasnt looking 100% and starting to sag, may as well have it done while its in than it fail between services meaning a special trip to the garage
