jacking and battery access

Where are the best jacking points and how do I access the battery on a MK1. I need to check the jump start socket

The battery is located behing a panel in the nearside front wheel arch, you will need to remove the wheel for access. Not sure on the correct jacking points but I use the corners of the chassis.

No need to remove the wheel just for charging or jump starting, i did mine the other day, but if you need to remove the battery then yes, the wheel has to come off.

Need a really stubby screwdriver with 18 inch wheels. I took the wheel of because I wanted to have a good look at battery mounts and the fabled anderson connector issue.

I know now that mine wont have the anderson connector issue as it has been removed. I will plug the conditioner into the cigarette lighter and keep a stubby screwdriver and jump leads on board for the worst case scenario. I might even fabricate a small box to attach under the car (if there is space) containing jump leads and screwdriver in case I cant open the car
