I've just recently got back from a trip to Nurburgring; what a brilliant time, without exception the maddest thing I've done on 4 wheels, a 'must do' for all!

When I wasn't getting scared senseless by the exceptionally fast locals blasting by me I was worrying myself on the finish straight with the front getting light and wandering all over the track. Anything above 150mph was pant soiling!
Has anyone fitted Mk.2 'winglets' to a Mk.1 to combat this? If so are there any problems associated with doing it? Or has anybody any different idea's?

Many thanks

Might find this useful

I am thinking the same and tvr.dean has the moulds, will do this over the winter dark nights.

Thanks

You may find this thread... more useful, as I don't think high speed aerodynamics are your biggest problem...

Yes, look at the geometry and the spacers first. Apparently TVR buggered it up for reasons I cannot remember.

To sort the handling in order of preferance:

Get spacers on the front wheels. (£25)
Get the geometry sorted and tyre pressures right.(£100)
Get decent dampers fitted and car corner weighted (£1k)
Fit a front splitter. (£250, for Mk1 splitter which is a simple bolt on fit and just as effective)

Do all this, and the car will handle very nicely at all speeds. 175+ is rock solid.

Happy upgrading! smile

Thanks for all your responses. Wheel spacers and MK.1 splitter it is then.
I purchased the car over 4 years ago and tolerated it's unbelievably nervous handling for a good 2 years as my local TVR dealer/ service centre kept telling me the geometry was spot on. After too many near misses for it to be healthy I spanked the 1k on new suspension and changed dealership/ service centre. They found the geometry problem straight away and transformed the car from an evil brute into a pussy cat overnight!
Just the high speed stability issue to overcome and I'll be as happy as larry.
Now know where to get the spacers from, but where's best for the MK.1 splitter?

Thanks again

For the Mk1. splitter you'll also need the support T-bar. Racing Green sell the full kit for a very reasonable £175.

Would there be any merit in fitting a small discrete splitter under the front as per the one on the Chim?

Not sure why you'd bother given that there's a ready made, tested and proven kit already available, and it's very discreet.

The one I had on the Chim was tucked well back from the front of the car and couldn't really be seen unless you were under the car. It was also just held on with adhesive foam tape, which was strong enough, but would give if clattered on a speed hump.
