Cans Change

Thinking of putting some blue flame shark nose cans on next weekend. Other than loads of WD40 on the clamps is it worth having the exhaust warmed from a run to make it easier to remove them?

I wouldn't have said so. When I swapped my old factory fit cans for the Carbon Can options, the old ones came off quite easily - just a little bit of twisting & wiggling, and they worked loose, WD40 did the trick for me. Don't forget to give the retaining "U" bracket a squirt of WD40 as well, before trying to undo it.

One of mine was fine slight wiggle and came off a charm. The passanger one though was rusted solid, tried plus gas and WD40 and it didnt want to know, in the end had to use a small disk cutter and cut the bolt off the clamp.

1 came of easilly with WD40 (lots of) but the other one wouldn't budge so ended up going to my local exhaust centre and with the car on a ramp they soon had it of and new one on for a £5
I put Carbon Cans on with cats in and it poped and banged like a firework display!!!

Mine were a complete bu%^er. Both clamps broke off in my hands and both original cans were locked solid, made a metal plate to protect the body work then blasted them with heat and wiggled them wearing gloves until they worked lose, took about 30 mins per side. After cleaning up the pipes I fitted my new loud carbon can co's, sorted! Mr C

Ps. Whilst you're there check the welds where the pipe joins the box as they do require re-welding from time to time!

I suspect trying to get old cans off helps the welds fail!
