Couple of newbie questions

Picked the Tuscan up this afternoon, is in a different league performance wise to my old chim so well happy so far. Anyhow couple of questions; when I stopped it and started it up again I got a message saying efi fault. When I stopped it and started it again this has gone away bit now get diagnostic code 0 flash up for a split second on start up. Anyone any ideas? Also one of the rear roof clips is broken and the front seems a bit loose, is clever Trevor the best place to get these from as they seem to do a stainless upgrade?

The Clever Trevor/ Raceproved clips seem to be popular although you may need to drill new fixing holes and the allen key type screw seems a hastle.

Hi Chris,

Mine used to do that every time i started it, and there was nothing up with the car. I also used to occasionally get other codes flashing up for a split-second, these were also non-entities. The dash pod and software aren't flawless in my opinion, so i wouldn't worry about it unless you get something that comes up there and stays on the screen, or if it coincides with a physical problem, such as a misfire.

As for the clips, Jason at STR8-6 did mine with some stainless jobbies, i found them tighter but a pain in the arse to clip back up once removed.

On start up I sometimes get error code 0 and error code E, both go away immediately so I dont worry too much.

I have just fitted the race proved clips and did not need to drill new holes, I used the screws that held the previous clips on and it is very secure with no movement. (I found a flexible shaft screwdriver is with a hex bit is the best tool for doing up and undoing the raceproved clips £4.00 from ebay) linky

That was a good price and it looks to be a good car. Check that the mod has been done to the jump start socket!

I am a newbie too, and a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to niggles, my niggle list is growing, I already have about 5 weekends worth of jobs, from fitting a gear knob heatsink to encapsulating window encoders with silicone.

Best advice I can give is to fit some 3mm spacers from Matt at SP performance (on ebay for £24.95), the jump socket needs a good look at, keep an eye on levels and enjoy........

Efi fault is nothing to worry about unless it stays on. I get it flash up for a very quick beep every now and then when driving at low speeds.

I came from a Chim to my T350 and for the first few months would panic at every new beep, rattle and error code. You soon learn which are serious and which to ignore.

Well to follow on from I need a new screen clip, going down the motorway and the screen flew out. Knew the clip was broken but wasn't expecting it to come out!! Doubled back and couldnt see it.. Hoping it didnt hit anyone, wasnt anyone directly behind so fingers crossed. So next question is where can I get a new screen from and how much do they cost.

It is a very nice Tuscan my dad was previous to last owner. The fault code 0 appeared a few times during his time with the car and i wouldnt worry about it. It had an oversized rear screen from a later car. Try clevor trevor for a new screen. P.S. hope your enjoying it.

Cheers, did he have much bother with it? Previous owner said he didn't do anything to it other than service it, but it had had a lot of money spent in the past.

Couple more daft questions:

- So is roof off with rear window in place a no-go? Have fitted the alloy clips (albeit with self tappers for the time being) so hopefully will be better.
- Also what is the min you really want to go down to in litres on the fuel guage, is the guage accurate?

I have the upgraded (steel) clips on mine and the screen has stayed in place at reasonably high speeds.

Garage ran mine out of fuel yesterday with 3 ltrs on the gauge - so like most TVR's, it pays not to push your luck!

Roof off with window in is fine but does get a bit buffety and noisy. Screen out much more comfortable. I blat along with the window in occasionally and it seems secure enough and that is with rubbishy clips.

Must replace mine as they are useless.

Diagnositc codes are annoying as they are never anything to worry about. Like someone said above you worry all the time at first and then after a while don't care unless you know something is up!
